We have the best team in the division apparently, but, blessed with the skills the Lord has given them, they also need "motivation". Having thousands of fans paying good money, cheering your name and roaring you on, or just having the sheer duty to do your best for the money your employer is paying you is not enough, you need to be motivated to try, or score, or pass more accurately.

If someone was on your back all the time, shouting abuse to you and about you in front of ev eryone, you would sue them for harrassment and making your position untenable

No I wouldn't. Typical nanny state response.

How long until 6 year olds are suing each other in the playground for calling each other stinky-pants?

Players are supposed to be competitive animals, they supposedly strive to be the best they can be. While I understand that its not great to hear people booing are footballers really such brittle animals that they shatter at the first sign that they are not loved? Good job John Gannon, Paul Beesley and Brian Gayle weren't so fragile isn't it? I am consistently amazed (although less so these days) that managers like Pardew at the weekend cite the crowd as the reason they lost. I recon I could select 11 people off here at random and tell them they were going to get £20k per week minimum but they had to sweat blood for the cause and they would say to fuck with the crowd, roll their sleeves up and just get on with it.

Probably happening already in the good ol U, S of A.

And changing the manager mid January when in a decent position in the league should be the preserve of fuckwit foreign owners who don't know any better.

Review things in the summer by all means.

Fuckwits such as Mandaric and Huddersfield's board? Why wait until summer? This season - if Wilson stays - is over. Mid table at best. The season can, however, be salvaged with 17 games to go with a replacement for our likeable but pitifully clueless manager.

By all means call people who disagree with you 'fuckwits' and the 'shoes off brigade', but if you can't see the train wreck that's coming, I despair.

I agree SB. The, 'Best team in the division' tag is getting really boring now. Why is it the best team? Cause our wage bill is skyhigh?? Players like Doyle must think all of his christmases have come at once! Fuckin joke.

I might be a bit "old skool" but this poncey nanny-state attitude that you can't critisise or discipline people that constantly under-perform really gets my goat.

At the end of the day if a person gets justified critisisism that he/she isn't doing a good job then it's how that person responds that matters. If they get all upset and start whinging and moaning at the critisism instead of looking at themselves and understanding where they are going wrong then it's obvious that they don't really care and it's "just a job". These people are ten-a-penny and there's thousands and thousands of them that regularly move jobs looking for the easiest ride they can find because it's always someone elses fault.

The ones who take the critisism, without moaning and roll up their sleeves and try harder whilst constantly looking at the ways in which they can improve are the ones you want.

Not exactly the same with footballers and "normal" people, but you get my drift!

Are you saying that all employees respond well to being abused and bollocked everytime they do sonething wrong ? It is not nanny state,it is common sense

Of course not but it sorts out the wheat from the chaff....(see my last post above!)

Easy to say when you are not in that position. You get people like Quinn who was abused mercilessly and when he had a go back at fans(Blackpool away is one that springs to mind ?) the abusers don't like the abuse they get back from the players. All because some people can takea bollocking and abuse it doesn't mean others can. How do you think Ironside and the kids on the bench felt when they saw fighting in the stand and the abuse the players were getting on Saturday.? Long got abuse and sarcasm off the Kop the other week.....do you really think his performances will improve (or have improved because of this ?)...i bet he is thinking what will happen if he makes another mistake.

Tonge was a good player for us but noticably played worse when the fans were on his back...not everyone is the same . The old adage of praise in public and critisise in public tends to work more often than not

We could all play for £20k per week...however if you get abuse for every mistake you make wouldn't you be nervous about playing in front of people.

If you had you manager on your back abusing you and slagging you off in public, you confidence is bound to take a knock. The amount you earn is irrelevant

In today's PC terms the fans are just pointing out to the players an improvement opportunity. ;)
