I am definitely not an ITK or spy for the club etc but just looking on transfrmarket.co.uk, I picked out Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings 9 days ago. To say they only started training with us yesterday and it doesn't take a week to travel from London to Sheffield our new AI might be this forum! I also think the contract we have incentivised is great, a year with an option to extend is basically saying to Ings, go out stay fit and prove yourself. We aren't lumbered with a player that could be out for extensive periods of time beyond the initial year and if he does well, I would expect us to activate the option of extending. But I am still taking the rights of ITK next I heard Messi and Ronaldo but saying that they are either "too foreign" or "too old" for our fan base.
Can’t be the case. If AI were this forum we’d have signed KONE with how much I’ve crowed about him 😂

I don’t. I’ve just got this feeling he’ll start his first game and after 20 minutes be looking at the dug out going “seriously? How do you expect to win playing this way?
Know what you’re saying but the manager won’t be here much longer if that’s the case. Playing the right way I think Ings will be a class above, whether that’s with this manager or the next one. Fingers crossed anyway.

Porkers, through necessity, forging young players careers, developing a fighting spirit and creating a culture that will stand them in good stead in future.
We're spending millions on Danny Ings and a clutch of other players with no real connection to the club, who won't be part of the club for long, creating an increasing disconnect with fans.
All very different from the prospectus.
It’s a good feel good story for now and fair play to them.

They have however played a much changer Bolton team that ply their trade in the league below and an albeit far more expensively assembled, but also much changed Leeds team.

They may very well line up against a genuine Championship first choice XI and get absolutely twatted.

I've just heard from a reliable source at Southampton that they wanted Ings as well - he was happy to go there - but they messed around and he decided to come to us instead.

Positive that we're not the only side that wanted him, RE fitness and ability etc.

Welcome Danny lad! 🤞👍 Hopefully have an outstanding season. I'm surprised we've got him.

Hopefully a very good signing and a good addition to the team.
I like Campbell whose speed and goal scoring are his strengths, could make a great foil for Ings whose power and goal scoring are his.
They could make a great combination if played together - and we get the ball to them🤔.

Sure he's fine but it feels pretty desperate along with Redmond. Much bigger priorities than signing these two
The post I ended up responding too was our squad is too young and needs a winger and striker with experience alongside a CB with experience. Mee had been floated about before on the forum, so I went on transfrmarket.co.uk did a bit of searching and found 2 options. With Ings, I thought it was a slight gamble but if he stays fit we could have a steal there and potentially the same with Redmond he does have at least Championship quality in him if he can play enough minutes.

Not just last night, it's about how they've approached all their games so far.
There's no plan about it as they've no other option but ironically being forced into playing young players and wringing every last drop out of what they've got, there's something approaching a blueprint for their future.
We had some fine words from our owners several months ago and ended up with a complete mish-mash instead.

Given the current state of the season, the declining level of supporter confidence in a successful season, the lack of or inability to execute a tactical game plan, the lack of activity in the transfer window with quality ncomings, and the several outgoings, this is a sensible short term signing,

But its only short term.

We still have major issues to overcome to get to a base where the team can get into the top 6 by the end of the season.

For this to be a successful short term signing, we need to play to Ing' strengths and get him into the places in front of goal where he can use his goal scoring instincts to score 15 or more goals.

The problem, simply put, is we don't have a tactical game plan to use his skills so it will be interesting how Selles changes his tactical approach to get the ball to him. Who can get the ball to him in the right places in front of goal? If we intend to play him as a lone striker, it won't work. So players like Hamer, O'Hare, Brooks, and Barry must work towards that objective as a primary responsibility.

On a parallel theme, I watched a brilliant young Owls team play as one last night against Leeds. What an awesome game they played last night. They gave everything they had and they seemed to have total confidence in the ability of the manager to manage the tactical side of the game.

We need some of that committment, enthusiasm, and 'never say die' attitude if we are to avoid relegation this year.

Just listened to his interview he speaks well seems eager to get going and very switched on. Seems like he’ll be good to have around the place

Of course we can always send Ings and the rest of the sicknotes to Helmy and his DNA clinics, he'll clone their good bits and sell them on for 10bob. .

Think this will be a top signing. 5 goals and 5 assists in 2072 minutes played in all comps for West Ham. Only just turned 33, Sharp, Mcgoldrick, Clarke etc all had good seasons around that age for us and Ings is/was a few levels above any of them. No actual injury since 2021 according to transfermarkt so hopefully all good on that front too

Absolutely delighted with this. I wanted us to get him a few years ago but he was well out of our price range.

This is a huge upgrade on Moore.
Me too shows some intent. Where it leaves Canon who knows but a player swap somewhere might be a good option. When we put 6 past Boro Saturday lunchtime we will be wondering what all the panic was for.

You suggest that Ings will not perform to his best because he has no connection to the Club. We have no reason to believe that to be the case.
We don’t need every player to have a long history with the club, but just to contribute to the season in question.

He'll add some intangibles to the squad, but does he even remember what it feels like scoring goals? I'll keep my expectations very low on this one.
