Just because there isn’t a transfer fee doesn’t mean a signing is free.

I wish him well. We just don’t usually do well out of signing big names towards the end of their careers
I'd say we've had some success. Off the top of my head, Unsworth, Short and Shipperley were key to our promotion. Beattie, Uhiogu, Speed and Naysmith were all decent. Obviously, every signing is a gamble, but I much prefer this signing to lumping on an overpriced "up and coming" player like Brewster or Cannon.

I'll try to be glass half full, I don't expect many goals from him, but maybe he can unlock Campbell and/or Cannon in a two striker formation. Campbell did seem to play his best football when he had Moore next to him.

The current 4-3-3 clearly isn't working and we don't have many wingers anyway, so maybe a switch to a 4-2-2-2 could be the answer.

Yeah that one didn’t come to anything I said on a previous thread that we wasn’t prepared to pay what the other team wanted. I will give you a clue on the player because I don’t think we will go back in for him. He’s already wearing red and white stripes.

If we’re not going back in for him then just tell us who it is rather than have us second guessing every Stoke and Southampton player!

m a few options. Ashley Barnes, Obafemi, Emmanuel Dennis, Will Keane, Harry Cornick, Jamal Lowe, Kieffer Moore, Marcus Forss, McBurnie, Brewster, Elijah Adebayo and Callum Robinson .
Why let go of Moore and Brewster (deals I agreed with in isolation) to sign Danny Ings?
Jamal Lowe
Ashley fuckin Barnes….
Haha now I know your on the wind up😂😂
I’m not saying he won’t be wank, I’m just going to make an informed decision based upon seeing him play for 10 games, makes sense, try it.

You mean this Brewster & Moore?😂

Let's give the guy a chance. He's scored a lot of goals in the top flight. He's the same age as when Billy had his best season. He may be the next golden oldie we've had. Ok, he could be the next Lee Hendrie or Ian Rush, please no! He still seems to have the determination to play football which is massive. Apparently he's very hard working. I remember when Dean Saunders came in at 34 and he was the best for work rate in the team! Incredible!

The main question is why haven't we signed him earlier. We probably all know the answer here but that's not likely to Selles fault neither. The start won't have helped but having the defence we've had won't have helped!
He was more than likely weighing up his options, if he gambled on us too early but Burnley wanted him back he could have had a bigger payday

You’d swap our Academy for Wednesday’s would you?
Not yet but you'd think what's happening now at S6 is extremely positive for their youth set-up going forward.
Also rather see some more of our younger players coming through or the acquisition of younger players instead of spending shitloads on loans in terms of longer-term planning.
Which I thought was something like the owners' alleged plan.

All the permanent signings until today have been younger players with an eye to the future, wtf do you think the Swedish lad was all about?

The players I mentioned are poor, generally. But they’re better than Ings in 2025 (especially Moore, which irks me the most).

Happy with Danny Ings coming in. Transfer kitty still as is. Just image what he can teach the likes of One and Cannon, and he will also bang a few in.

Rewind Billy Sharp 6 years!!!!!! Danny Ings

Billy at 33 and not a single Blade thought he was too old....

Ings is a clever signing. Provided qe have the players and system to give him the service he needs. Otherwise, a waste of time - see Campbell v Millwall.

On the basis that we have to start making chances again soon, he should do well for us. Where that leaves Cannon however...

Have any scored more career goals than Ings?

Have any scored more PL goals than Ings? (Division above)

I really don't see the moan in this signing. It's a 1 year deal aswell.

Fuckin ell

We could pay 2mil for a striker to setup the winning goal for the opposition in a PO final instead.

One player? How much are we spending on loans in comparison?
Where has the dynamic scouting of younger players been all summer or since the owners took over?

It’s a decent signing because it makes sense for us.

He’s an experienced striker for the here and now.
So it takes the pressure off Cannon and One to perform
And gives both of them time to be developed.

Suspect we’re paying him massive wages but it’s only a short term deal, so we can afford it.

At the moment, it seems that nobody at the club from top to bottom seems to have a clue what they're doing.

Helmy Eltouky and Steve Rosen could be the smartest people in the world but it doesn't mean they know the first thing about football.
If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck

You've not really been paying attention have you?

If he’s fit and can stay fit, (time will tell) then I think it’s a really good signing. Strong, experienced and decent record across his career.
Hopefully it’s an addition, not a sign that Campbell is going out the door.

We are desperate though. Campbell is the only serviceable striker we have at the minute and even he struggles to stay fit.

What is the big gamble? He costs nowt and we can bin him off at the end of the year if he fails. Brewster and Cannon were gambles.
Because he'll be on big wages and we'll could be paying it while he's mainly on the treatment table

Porkers, through necessity, forging young players careers, developing a fighting spirit and creating a culture that will stand them in good stead in future.
We're spending millions on Danny Ings and a clutch of other players with no real connection to the club, who won't be part of the club for long, creating an increasing disconnect with fans.
All very different from the prospectus.
Yeah I'm so jealous of Wednesday. They don't know how good they've got it.

FFS. Get a grip man. Ings is better than any player the pigs have had for about 30y
