IF we get promoted could Danny boy be a victim of success?
For me he would have to get his P45.

Difficult call, you can be dam sure he won't have any money to buy players, in fact if we go up, we could lose a few decent players we do have, so Blades Championship side could be made up of loanees.
But if McC cannot invest more he cannot blame the Manager.
Pity the chairman cannot be sacked.

What is your reasoning for this?
A good rhetorical Q CTR, I mean: damned if he does, damned if he doesn't - who'd wanna be a football manager in this day 'n' age

In answer to the OP's Q though; personally, I can see him staying, at least till December but I do think considering our overall form this season, we'll struggle in the Championship, emulating our blue 'n' white neighbours escapades this season...ho hum o_O May fate prove me utterly wrong!

UTB!

Any club which sacks its manager upon promotion is a joke. A club with oodles of cash can bin off managers and build new teams every year. Does that sound like SUFC circa 2013?

If we do go up, what will keep us there is careful planning, wise expenditure and the development of existing players. To do that you need continuity.

Same owd , same owd , shite , not promoted yet and sack the manager, we'll be able to get mr 100% blade at the end of the season when the billionaires at weeds fook him out .

Would be a joke if we sacked him.

I'd like to see Morgan take over ultimately in a year or two, a motivator who's actually not averse to good football. A thoroughly good bloke as well with a bit of intelligence and SUFC through and through.

Were fucked then.

He's fooking useless....

IF we get promoted it will be inspite of him not because of him.
Struggling in League Division 3 and he would be totaly out of his depth in League Division 2.

So by your reasoning if we don't go up it is not down to him either.

In what way do you think he is useless? Or are you just attention seeking as usual ?

If Wilson takes us up I think he'll have completed the journey from blue to red. Whether he takes us up or not he's a very good manager who has worked in worsening conditions, the majority of which have been out of his control - give him a long term deal whatever happens.

Whats all this blue to red rubbish - Wilson is a manager - he will go from club to club - It's what they do!
As a player he played for several teams - probably turned out for Luton more than any other - as a manager he has already been at Barnsley, Fowls, MK Dons, Bristol City, Hartlepool and Swindon!
And I beg to differ - he is not a very good manager - if the board are stupid enough (and my god they are stupid!) to give him a long term deal that is a road to disaster!

As previously stated -if we get promotion in will be in spite of him not because of him!

In spite of:

1, the players he bought
2, the teams he picked
3, the training sessions he ran
4, the tactics he chose

The argument is utterly risible.

Players win you matches, they also get managers the sack. I am struggling to think of anyone who would do better given the circumstances. We should all back the team regardless of the differing views on the manager and save them for another day.

I think maybe 5 or 6 wins would see us promoted automatically. Let's worry about next season in May! UTB

I'm struggling, I really am...

The squad is utterly pants. The players we have aren't anything compared to the ones weve had to sell to keep the club afloat. We don't even have a shoe string budget, its barely even a string of cotton. But, somehow the manager at the helm has navigated us into a fantastic position. Favourites now for the title with a handful of games remaining. To want him sacked is absolutely ridiculous.

And for the record... Do you think the dragon McCabe would ever let his mighty blades enter admin and risk losing their ground?? I think not

We wouldn't sack him upon promotion as this would be ridiculous and make us look like nobheads.

Last season was the best football I've seen at the Lane for years. This season it hasn't been pretty, but if we are promoted automatically, then he has done his job. Next season, he needs money to spend and if he gets it and buys some decent players, then provided we get back to playing attractive football, that'll do for me. But, let's get the job done this season first.

Given we sacked a manager a couple of games into a season and promptly got relegated, the ridiculous option isn't beyond us. :)

Agreed - it's not realistic to sack your manager if you are promoted. I understand the OP's sentiments though. Our style of play isn't one I enjoy, or want to see more of - and the current team will get obliterated in the championship. None the less, let's get up and worry about it all in the summer.

Alreight we know Danny boy has been feightin wi one hand tied behind his back and tother un tippin his cap to McWobbleGob but come what may he has to go before the Blades will move forward.

A reight treat wud be for him and McWobbleGob to leave together at the end of the season, just leave the freehold in the drawer.;)

As Churchill said: "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it" - very apt for the Blades me thinks!

But I'll second the wisdom of alcoblade (;)) , let's get there first; all the rest is gravy till then

UTB and roll on Monday!!!

I'd be worried if Wilson ever got considerable funds to invest in the team another Bryan Robson as far as I'm concerned, I mean he bought some right expensive shite for the pigs and helped them to get in the mess they were in for years (nice one Danny).

I wanted to bring this up but thought I'd be shot down.

The second biggest mistake we made [No 1 Robson] was to let Neil manage in the prem [out of his depth]. We should have paid him off with a bounus and got another manager in. By the way I'd have Niel back tomorrow, he'd walk us out of this league.

Wilson should be treated the same. If we go up, thanks here's a bonus now go. If we don't go up fuck him off as fast as possible.

What worries me is fans giving him support because we've gone up. This shit league should be won by now. If thats Billy big bollocks then so be. Name one good team in this division?

Ye, I hate that.

This is a ridiculous thread. If he gets us promoted I do not want him sacked, nor should he be, and neither WILL he be! So, a pointless thread on all levels for me. Why do you support Sheff Utd if you won't even support the manager even if he won the league??? Madness

P.S. Name one good team in this division.

Answer: there isn't one. However that also includes us. So well done to Danny, if he makes us the best of the sh*te!

.People who don't learn from mistakes made in the past don't deserve success.

Quoting from bradford Blade As Churchill said: "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it"

With due respect to all who post on here I don't think there is a poster who can hold a candle to Mr Churchill's wisdom but I'll gladly be corrected.

Some proper bollocks on this thread. IF he gets us promoted, then you look at the higher league and decide if he warrants/can cope with the improved level. However, this isn't about possible promotion to the PL, but the Championship. The step-up isn't close to being the same in terms of the gulf in quality, just look at the number of clubs coming straight back down compared with the PL.

IF we are in the Championship next season, I see no reason for DW not to be in charge. Unless we've now acquired a few supporters with blinding optimism like the baconists across the city and expect us to gallop straight through the division, in which case dispatch a negotiating team to Madrid forthwith!

We had all this sentimental crap with Colin when we got to the Premiership, he wasn't good enough then and as proven more recently he still is not good enough to keep a team in the Premiership but Jeez he is still streets ahead of our Danny who struggles and stumbles along even at this lowly level, admittedly he gets no help whatsoever from the clowns in the boardroom but seriously anyone thinking he could hack it in the championship is massively deluded. Unfortunately for Danny it is not good enough being a nice bloke in the championship a bit of nous and bollocks are required both of which he don't have.
