Danny boy, a victim of success?

If any neutral supporter read some of these posts what would they think of us.

Wilson has got a short term plan and he isn't moving from it most of us don't like it me included but his attitude is fuck you all I'm doing this my way.

I believe we will go up auto and there isn't a chance of him going after promotion so I'm afraid boys in the short term we are going to have to live with it and back him .

He should be given his chance IF he gets us up. Admittedly he isn't the greatest manager but is making us the best of a bad bunch and that is all his remit is for now.Next season that would change but he wouldn't deserve another shot at L1.

Considering the tight finances we also seem to have, not sure cutting him out of a contract the second we get promoted would do anyone any favours? Give him until Christmas and if we follow the form of the Championship teams in South Yorkshire then we change and go from there.

I'd be worried if Wilson ever got considerable funds to invest in the team another Bryan Robson as far as I'm concerned, I mean he bought some right expensive shite for the pigs and helped them to get in the mess they were in for years (nice one Danny).

But has been shrewd in his time at the blades surely??

He won't be sacked IF we go up and nor should he be. I fully expect us the struggle like the pigs and udders we have no money and play good football which gets you nowhere in that league. He would be sacked by xmas if were in the bottom 3 however whoever came in would do no better as you can only work with what you have and can not produce miracles.

if he wins the title hell give us only the second piece of silverware since I started supporting the blades over 50 years ago , so will become an Icon, all this we should cakewalk this division is pretentious claptrap , a wednesday fans view of things , ie something only a pig fan would utter, as United fans are reasonable , fair minded fans with no delusions of grandeure,
"Struggling in League Division 3 "

WHEN HAVE WE STRUGGLED , NOT REALLY BEEN OUT OF THE PLAY OFF SPOTS IN BOTH SEASONS
Pigs struggled , finished 15th first season down

no doubt we should have sacked Bassett for only squeaking us up in 1988 , using your logic

and miss out on consecutive promotions

Ha Ha success, don't worry about that, second season syndrome is about to kick in.......I read about it on here earlier in the season when we were going through a rough patch, nailed on.

If Wilson takes us up I think he'll have completed the journey from blue to red. Whether he takes us up or not he's a very good manager who has worked in worsening conditions, the majority of which have been out of his control - give him a long term deal whatever happens.
Never advocated sacking him if we went up - just not giving him a long contract =- where is the logic in that?
Managers come and go - in football today 12 months is a long contract!
Just think how Newcastle fans think now -last year when they did ok the board gave Pardew an Eight Year deal - Madness - I dont think they are looking forward to the next seven years or as usual sack him and pay a huge severance pay!
Wilson is not the Messiah - don't treat him like one!

Would be a joke if we sacked him.

I'd like to see Morgan take over ultimately in a year or two, a motivator who's actually not averse to good football. A thoroughly good bloke as well with a bit of intelligence and SUFC through and through.

Have you checked out Morgan's results with the Under 21s? Absolutely dreadful.

And the cheapest option.
I for 1 wouldnt want him as manager.
Why are we talking about this for anyroad?

.

and Wilson is totally correct with this. If he gave in to fans' demand he would quite rightly be seen as a weak manager. He does it his way and fails to get us promoted,no one else to blame.

I agree. What I do like about Wilson is that he doesn't just have one style of play that is his own and is incapable of veering from it. Last season we had players capable of playing an attractive passing game with lots of movement and that's how we played. This season we have fewer players capable of that so he has adapted the style to be tight at the back and nick a win where we can.

I think to get rid of him would be foolish. Hopefully promotion would mean a little bit to spend (I'm not deluded, but expect a couple of signings whichever league we are in) and he could try to get some footballers back in and get us playing well again.

Warnock was crap in the Premier League because he couldn't adapt his style of play. From what I've seen of DW, I think he can. If he gets us up he fully deserves his chance. I would rather have consistency with him at the helm than another season of transition and bedding in an unknown.

Whats all this blue to red rubbish - Wilson is a manager - he will go from club to club - It's what they do!
As a player he played for several teams - probably turned out for Luton more than any other - as a manager he has already been at Barnsley, Fowls, MK Dons, Bristol City, Hartlepool and Swindon!
And I beg to differ - he is not a very good manager - if the board are stupid enough (and my god they are stupid!) to give him a long term deal that is a road to disaster!

As previously stated -if we get promotion in will be in spite of him not because of him!

That's nonsense Fiery. How can that possibly be correct?

I expect drivel from beightonblade. You can do better.

Given we sacked a manager a couple of games into a season and promptly got relegated, the ridiculous option isn't beyond us. :)

Sorry JD, I don't go with that analogy at all. The only ridiculous thing about sacking Semi-Pro was not doing it immediately after his cowardly and abject effort at Wembley. It was three games into the season, including a 2-0 at Hartlepool where we didn't have a shot or string three passes together. The Buffoon of Bury would have taken us to the abyss with his anti-football comédie noire. Better late than never in his case. I would have been delighted to see him publicly sacked at half-time on the pitch.

Yes, the "Morgan for Manager" campaign derives from the same ridiculous, parochial claptrap that would have had us appoint, at various intervals: Currie, Edwards, Wilder, Peschisolido, Andy Scott, David Holdsworth et al. Its the philosophy that delivered the great Mickey Adams. They'll be calling for the legendary "Cotts" next.

Wanted - Blades Manager - Only former players need apply - No ability required.

Hmmm... I didn't want him as manager at that point either, but there's a distinction between doing the right thing at the wrong time, and waiting until the timing is so completely wrong that it becomes suicidal.

I reckon Blackwell would have kept up us in what would have been a season of pure ugliness. We'd made our bed and should have lain in it for another 8 months.

A bit harsh on Wilder who appears to be doing a reasonable job at Oxford( and at Halifax previously) but agree on the rest

Good Lord. That would have been ugliness beyond comprehension! It was bad enough having him as manager but that........ :)

Yikes. I've only just spotted that on re-reading. Maybe it's a sign of my innate hoofophobia....

Egg on face

I do hope so, because success for the Blades is far more important to me then parochial, juvenile malice towards a thoroughly decent guy and a decent manager with a perfectly good record.

Also, are you really sure that one match justifies that sort of triumphalism? I'm not!

Danny was a nice chap but he's not much of a manager.
