Solid enough and divides the fans into weak-link/scapegoat camps. Textbook.

2 1/2 year deal with a transfer fee of............Oh wait, FUCK ALL. we can't make a huge loss on this deal, always going to be a good squad player even if he doesn't do what the rest of us believe he can.
Can't see bad business in this atall, if we sell we make, if he bombs we loan, I'm guessing he's not going to be a top earner here so, he deserves the chance, not been our worst performer by far.

IMHO not an inspiring signing. I ve said on a previous post I see him as being our least comfortable player on the ball. Whenever he gets the ball he seems to move it on as soon as possible. The ball is like a hot potato to him. He never keeps possession or tries to take a man on. He usually gives the ball back to the player he has just received it from straight away or puts a cross in that either is too long or too short. He never takes on responsibility for making things happen. His shooting leads a lot to be desired too.
He does however have a great first touch and is very good at finding space. CW is a far better judge than I am so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Think Lafferty has a couple of assists to his name. Don't know why people are slating him. We're top of the league and he's been part of it - he's lost once since he's been here. Far better (it seems) than Hussey.

God we love a moan don't we....

If the JTW shut now we've had the best window in 10 years

He's a real solid and dependable asset .

He reminds me a lot of Gary Naysmith from a few years ago . Steady , dependable , a good pro who won't let us down .

I have a feeling he's slightly less suited to wing back compared to full back. But our formation may well change at some point, and Lafferty's been fine overall.

Agreed he's a much more orthodox full back and would suit a back four. Suspect if we play wing backs next year IF we get up, we'll be slightly less cavalier as well.

Lafferty or Hussey? No contest!

Lafferty was drafted in as it soon became evident that Hussey isn't what we need. Wilders only fail so far in transfers.
I'm happy with Lafferty, steady, nowt flash.

To be fair he's got a outlets wrong imo . Hussey and Wilson to name them . But they pale into insignificance against the good signings he's made . Lafferty is one of the good ones

As a left back I think Laffery is very good back, as a left wing back he's average, but still good to get him tied down on a permanent deal

Anyone who has played as regular as he has for us, in this (so far) successful season, is a good player.

Good addition again. Would be interesting to know what the transfer fee was.

I thought it was just me missing something here!?!???

Good signing. Well done Blades.

Who's a better left back in this league? Not these fuckers that get done by Freeman on a regular basis for a start.

Meredith is miles better. I See your point, and he's not terrible for L1, but I do think it's his level. Fine for this season, if we are promoted I would like us to upgrade. Our worst player of the 'regular starters' IMO.

So one two's aren't keeping possession?

Ok
That's the last good game he'll have for us then

Amazing how quickly spoiled football supporters can become....I keep reading the expression "divides opinion" about Lafferty.

All I know is that he's a consistent player in a winning team. It's a great signing.

11What opinions need dividing?!

Some people now want the more household name, or cream of the L1 crop, with no regard to the cost, risk or even chance of getting these players to come.

in Lafferty we've signed a consistent, capable LB within our budget that wouldn't look out of place in the Championship. All of this within our budget.

I also trust Wilders judgement.

It seems unnecessary to pay a fee when we could sign him on a free in the summer. But it's not like United to spend money unnecessarily. Maybe it's a slight amendment to a loan fee or maybe we would've had to pay some sort of fee in the summer. It should make financial sense because we were under no pressure to get a permanent transfer done.

I thought CW stated that Lafferty was coming in on a free transfer but with future fee clauses in his contract? I think he mentioned that they are wildly optimistic fee triggering clauses also as he said something like if he lands on the moon etc. In essence, probably with the exception of a signing on fee and perhaps a fee for the lads agent (there is no such thing as a totally free transfer) he isnt costing us much. There probably hasnt been any monies exchanged between the clubs at this stage and probably never will be.

I suspect the 50k figure in the paper probably covers potential future appearance / landing in the moon fees. Either way hes good business for a club in our position as we are still a div 1 club for now.

I don't log in here to read sensible logical balanced opinions.
Can we have this "weasel" fella banned!
