Dane

You've brought tears to my eyes.

Thanks.

Adkins, as well as nailing it on the training room wall nail it on the inside of your shit house door at home.

Once again Dane thanks for reminding me what a Blade is.

PS thanks for that chat as we walked down the corridor(?) at Old Trafford after being robbed against Arsenal.

Top bloke

Dane ought to be made aware that surely this is the most liked post ever on any of the major Blades forums whether it be this Bladesmad or the old 606.

I remember his debut at Blackpool ,nobody had ever heard of him.
Dave Who ?

Well if you came off the Manor, Manor Park or Wybourn you knew him, I was 15 and nearly fell out of my chair listening to Radio Sheffield when I heard that the curly haired kid from the 30 asides on St Theresa's playing field was playing.

Remember him scoring a couple against Chelsea last home game at the Lane one season. He took Chelsea apart YES CHELSEA and the little twat Dennis Wise YES ENGLAND'S DENNIS WISE couldn't get near him. A great performance from Dane and the Blades - we were 4-0 up and they scored a couple of late goals to make it 4-2 ( hope my memory is right !)

He epitomises 'Bladeism'.

Anyone got a favourite player in this squad? Or even one they like?........a little bit?

Any young fans with Twatter, Instagram, Facebook skills sent this to the team , manager or owners and/or the Star? Could cry reading that and the the pain he went through for this club

It tells you how bad things are at our football club when ex players and professionals are questioning what is happening down at the lane.

From what I have read or spoken about that's:

Dane Whitehouse
Kevin Gage
Brian Deane

Terrible, terrible times.

That's the sad thing, no one has a favourite player. I don't buy the programmes anymore but who do the kids say are their favourite player? I think fans who were 11/12 during the Bassett/Warnock eras had their favourite.. all characters, all worked hard easier to choose, now who the fuck we got? They all look the fucking same with their shite tattoos and vanilla ice haircuts.

No disagreement here then. This must be the most positive thread from a point of everyone argreeing what is missing and what we want to see.
Got it you lot that that claim you play for SUFC?
Thank you Mr Whitehouse. Have a good shift Monday, putting the graft in as you always did. Something these lot will never know.

Curtis Woodhouse, Steve Thompson and Paul Devlin have joined in as well last night on Twitter.

Yep if you went to Brook School you knew him too. Blades legend.

This ought to be printed off and plastered all over the dressing room for the next home game.

That was the first game I went to.

This post should be stickied and not moved until we have a team with some bollocks and attitude to get us out of this division.

Ah yes, good old 'Blades' 'Legend' Paul Devlin. If Devlin has been saying anything to suggest the current players aren't loyal enough or dedicated enough to United, he's a bloody hypocrite.

Yes didn't Devlin "bleed blue blood' when trying to get himself a move to Birmingham?

Yes didn't Devlin "bleed blue blood' when trying to get himself a move to Birmingham?

Yep. Signed a long term deal, then engineered the move merely months later. He used to be my favourite player, back in the era when I had favourite players. Can't deny he did well for us, but the manner he left spoilt a lot of those memories for me.

For me the biggest thing with that quote is when he says "... or didn't put the effort in like these do there would be fist flying at half time with each other", i.e. people would be angry and upset for players letting the rest of the team down and ruining what they're collectively trying to achieve. I can't see that happening now.

Looking at today's line up, player for player, I think most of them do actually try pretty hard normally, but there's an extra, vital, 5-10% to be gained by being a real team, fighting for each other, not just 11 individuals put together. For a while Adkins even selected his team just by looking at who was biggest, strongest and toughest, but it didn't work long term, partly because you need more than that and partly because you need a strong team morale, not just 11 guys with a decent set of competetive attributes.
When I replied to your last analysis about Burton, Did I not point this out to you, citing Matt Done and his work and the lack of everyone pressing up a little when he started? Each player SHOULD be aware of what another is really good at and back him up at the point he starts this action. It is the awareness of what an individual can do and the support of others that builds that TEAM ethic and the team as a whole. When that is lacking you just have a bunch of individuals who may work in to positions in the hope that they are doing the right thing rather than the belief.

Yes didn't Devlin "bleed blue blood' when trying to get himself a move to Birmingham?
It was his agent Rob Segal who said "Devlin bleeds blue" in a plea to the fans through the Star around the time Devlin gifted two goals to Watford in October 2001. I was furious with him because it was well known that Devlin and his family were big Celtic fans and they used to go to the home games at Parkhead by coach from West Midlands. Typical of troublesome football agents lying through their teeth!
