They found a loop hole which has been closed now I believe. I briefly remember Warnock moaning about them doing it, could be wrong though

Now you mention it that does ring a bell mate. Although Warnock moaning, who'd have thought it

Neither was there any restriction on the number of cross-border loans.

For a player to be eligible on Boxing Day they'd have to sign on or after September 24th.
