Shrewsbury lose appeal on Dave McAllister red card
Dave McAllister's loan period at Shrewsbury has ended prematurely after the FA turned down his red card appeal.
The midfielder must now serve a three-match ban and that takes him up to the end of his loan from Sheffield United.
"It's really disappointing. I've loved my time at Shrewsbury and I felt I was getting better and better every game," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.
Shrewsbury argued the referee had made an error but the FA said video evidence submitted by the club was inconclusive.
McAllister added: "It still rankles. If there'd been a different camera angle you'd see there was no contact made and they (Aldershot) didn't call for a sending off.
"I'd just extended the loan and I would have loved to be at Shrewsbury until the end of it.
"It's been a very positive move to play here. I only came over to England last year from Ireland and to really get a nice run of first-team games has helped me."
And McAllister tipped Shrewsbury to clinch one of the automatic promotion places in League Two.
"They're definitely up there with the top teams in the division and I think they'll go up, as I think Sheffield United will, to the Championship," he said.

I presume you saw the same highlights as me then Loughboro. Terrible decision but then the FA has decided that no appeals against violent conduct red cards are allowed to succeed any more.

I wish there was accountability for referees. I've done the occasional game and if I had the benefit of a replay which showed that I'd got a decision wrong I'd not hesitate to reverse it.

Finally - the Aldershot player should be ashamed.

Absolutely - but it'll never happen, as there's the entire knock-on effect it would have. Shame really, but no matter how much the clubs and fans complain, we're stonewalled Poor Maccy...

Seems like they love him.

Perhaps loan him out again next season maybe? Seems to improve with regular games according to them.

I wonder what Wilson's plans for him are? Where does he fit into our team and does DW think he can make the step up?

It would be hugely interesting if we could partner McDonald with a box to box man, rather than a holding midfielder like Doyle. The attacking benefits could be great, but there's a good chance we'd end up being overrun in midfield. McAllister seems to have played alongside a playmaker type at Shrewsbury though.
