Chris Wilder can do what NA didn't or couldn't do last year he can get rid of most of the squad and bring in better players and get the fighting spirit back and turn BDTBL into a fortress again.
No clean slates, give them a chance etc get rid as soon as.
I will hopefully only see maybe 4 or 5 of the present players in the starting 11 come August.
I am expecting a very busy couple of months re the playing staff.

What about all the fuckers with contracts? He has a few of those to ship out too. Won't be easy.

Is CW Rebuild one of McCabes construction companies? Hope not.
That "1 Nigel Adkins" under your name needs changing to "Gone Nigel Adkins".

How do you do that with players under contract? Especially one's no other club is interested in? Strychnine in the tea and polishing the step are not options, sadly.

No but I'm hoping majority will go,no clean slates again, apart from Sharp and possibly Adams I would be happy for any of the others to go

If he did he is setting himself up for failure. The one thing you don't do is tear into it like a whirlwind and change everything in an effort to make your mark. He'll have a good idea of what's what. We finished 11th. We just need a few tweaks to get us above that and I'm happy to leave that to Wilder and Knill to deliver.

What I think is a bigger problem is Billy. Is Adkins the only manager he can produce for?.

Can't see us shifting the likes of Coutts and Basham. Wages too high.
Probably find clubs for Scougall and McNulty.

No, he did very well for O'Dismal.

I have faith that the arseholes will be shipped out (or at least the bulk).

I have no such faith that the board will come up with the provisions to replace them or that the newly restructured Technical Board won't dictate to the manager despite knowing the square root of fuck all about football.

Poisoning or a bit of cleaning? A dilemma for Chris and Kev!

Unless polishing the step is a euphemism I'm not familiar with.

What we should be doing is recruiting all the best players from L1. There were plenty on show at other clubs last season. On the basis that we will probably have a bigger wage budget than most other clubs we should be able to get them. Better than getting clapped out Championship player on inflated wages.

I'm sure someone said Mcabe said at a fans forum other week they'd pay contracts up if necessary.

You'd have thought the likes of Wallace for example would be told to fuckoff.

Murphy was under contract, but we managed to 'ship him out' - or do contracts only apply to useless wasters nobody else wants?

I agree it sounds like a good plan, but the problem is that Championship clubs will be looking at signing the best League One players. Also unless these players are out of contract, they will require fees, have you got a big enough transfer kitty to sign 4 or 5 of the best League One players?

I can see us going for League Two's best players and maybe that was one of the reasons the board went for Wilder.

CW will know all of the best league two players who are too good for league 2 and even league one.. this is a much better approach than buying crocked 'names' from the league above to show how big we are.

And Wilder will have targets in his head that he will be have been hoping that Northampton could spozz as a signing due to finances that will be affordable to SUFC.

Murphy was wanted by a club in a league above who were prepared to pay his wages. We received an undisclosed sum for him as he was under contract. If he wasn't under contract, we wouldn't have received a transfer fee for him.

A player like Coutts, for example, hasn't done anywhere near enough to warrant a championship club coming in for him. I'd be surprised if a L1 club was prepared to pay his wages. We are obliged to pay his wages until the end of his contract, so if we can't find someone to take him off our hands, we're either stuck with him or we have to pay him off.

Like everybody we can't predict how it will go with Wilder main thing I want from him is to address our immediate problems.
1. Get rid of the deadwood and do it quick they've all had their chances under previous managers.
2. New players get them in sharpish to establish and FFS spend wisely.
3. Don't take till March to sort your best eleven.
He knows players surely who are on the up from L2 and ready for the move up
Preferably young players.

I think the good thing this season is whoever is in charge, they would have the ball and chain of a 40 man squad this time as NA has got rid of a lot over the season and more are now out of contract. Hopefully that will give CW the leeway to bring in the 6-7 new faces required to mount a real challenge. Still, I fear for him as if he doesn’t hit the ground running, the wolves will be circling quickly again.

Howard

Kennedy

McGahey

McEveley

McFadzean

JCR

Flynn

Cuvelier

J. Wallace

Baxter

All out of contract.

Hopefully moving that lot on will create some leeway to bring in better. Baxter and Flo in particular I can see being on a decent wedge.

Then ideally we could also do with moving on

Scougall

McNulty

Freeman

Woolford

Coutts

That would really clear the decks to allow Wilder to build a team. But having 5 unwanted players under contract is a lot better position to be in that having about 25 of the fuckers as was the case last season.

Certainly a factor is our Billy. No pace or height so the game has to be played a certain way to get the best out of him. Nigel knows his strengths and weaknesses well and he always produces under him whereas he hasn’t produced for us under anyone else. He may become quickly disillusioned a la Brayford.

On the flip side, the calibre of signings we make might only be Northampton standard. As I’ve said, I wouldn’t be remotely surprised to see the likes of Ryan Cresswell and John Joe O Toole rack up at the lane.

Three of them will be easy to loan out if we get stuck with them.

Woolford and Coutts need dumping.

Didn't McCabe say something at one of the forums about him expecting to pay up a contract or two to get rid of certain players?
