Cue meltdown

Yes he WAS good in League ONE
Right he then improved massively and never got the chance to show his full potential in the championship.
Your basically saying the likes of fleck and Duffy aren't good enough for the championship cause they haven't done well there before

If this was a guy who'd never played for us before with no background of note and it was purely a footballing decision then I'd still be like

Those who say we must trust in wilder? Is that even over your own opinion?
As much as I have reservations, the answer has to be yes. I'd say that after the last 12 months he has to be supported. He won't be right 100% of the time and he's sticking his neck in the line if it's his decision. He got a damn sight more right last season than us supporters ever thought he would

Stop exagerrating, he was dissapointing at Championship but still scored a few, hardly crap.
However at league 1 level for anyone that went to matches they'd see he was a revelation, the best player we'd had for years and arguably close to PL standard.

Premier league standard? Did you see the players around him, Sharp would be on 40 with those players

This was done years ago. I have a daughter, and it wouldn't have happened to her because she wouldn't have put herself in that position. It's not her style.
Moral standards in footballers....what exactly is ok, and what isn't?
Drugs, sex parties, alcohol, smoking.....yobbish lad behaviour!!
It's your run of the mill Rugby tour, student experience, 18-30 holiday, teenage school party, office Xmas party....where do we draw the line?

I give you...Jose Baxter, Billy Whitehurst, Paul McGrath, Bryan Robson, Micky Adams.....the list of folk attached to this club who have had their own demons is endless. Nobody is saying we have tro treat them as role models and heros....my point is, support the others if you don't like him.

Just because someone puts themselves in that position, doesn't mean they should be raped. Besides, she went to a hotel with a footballer. What the fuck was Ched doing there?

I draw the line at consent. Basically.

Appreciate your last point (and I'm not saying that you will) but people do treat them as role models. The chants I heard at MKDons away a few years back about that girl were horrendous. It'll all start again and the second question I get after "who do you support" will now be "ah, that rapist plays for you doesn't he?"

If Wilder wants him it's ok with me. I slagged him off after 4 games and look how that turned out.

The issue for me is, and always has been, why do we need to create division in our ranks for a player who has a big question mark hanging over his future abilities at Championship level especially.

We can all disagree on our opinions about him but I'm sure we can all agree he is a divisive character amongst our support.

And just at a time when we've united more than in recent decades imho.

If he comes into the club and scores 15+ goals next season that will turn him from a £500k player to a £5m player (give or take).

In football and financial terms only (removing ethics) - that seems like quite a low risk strategy.

Ive all faith in world in wilder, his passion & determination is 2nd to none, the best thing thats happen to this club this millenium. but i seriously dont know how i can take ched back or cheer for him after all the pain he caused
  • after how he cost us promotion. Because regardless of what happened in wales, He still couldnt keep it in his pants despite having a girlfriend
  • Grief he brought partically post his release.
  • How he brought worst in everyone
  • ched yes & ched no arguments he caused that nearly ripped club in half,
  • i remember Media hounding for 3 months espically sky sports news seemed to be on it every day
  • At the worst this might of been my paranonia, but i felt i couldnt wear any of my utd stuff in public because of repuation we had at the times with all resignations & felt like if you were a utd fan you were automatically grouped as a rape defender.
It was the single worst point as sheff utd fan. I would never ever want to go back there ever again. In comparsion it makes other horrible days like hartlepool JPT under weir & Shrewsbury under adkins look like charlton/hull in that fa cup

The last few months of this spell at SU he's was easily the best player in the league 1.
On that form he is top end Championship level/ lower PL level. My concern was he was very average for his first 2 years then just a season his contract is up, he suddenly starts playing like a world beater.

I didn't say he WAS top end Championship standard I said he had the potential to be.

My concern is he seems to be an extremely selfish and despicable human being. Tufty seems to have built this side based on personality, attitude and teamwork... Again, I trust his judgement implicitly , but everything I've seen would have me doubt whether he'd fit in...

I know there are injury and fitness concerns and I would share them - indeed given his injuries I would say that 500k is too much money for him but....

In that first half against Chesterfield he was the best player on the pitch - he has ability that we have all seen which, as part of a Wilder side that has as much creativity and movement as it does, could be devastating with a full pre season under his belt.

Not sure why people think it could be devisive either - by all accounts Ched has always been a hard working well liked member of the teams he has played for. I would welcome his signing, but only on a circa 100k plus add ons basis.

On a football front I'll trust the manager as he has got several players going this season that we had written-off.
On the baggage side it will be a pain in the arse and it's a pity it has been leaked prior to the end of this fantastic season.
The only positive for me is that as per last season Tufty seems to be intent on getting his business done early which can only be a good thing.

£4m spent on Ched in total in transfer fees alone.

Had he not cheated on his fiancee we would have been promoted 5 years ago.

That said, if he scores loads of goals for us all will be forgotten. He has/had the ability.

Lol, so after everything that Wilder's said about protecting the club's finances as if they were his own, everything he's said about character...

We get shafted by a chancer who's out to leech as much money out of the club as he possibly can.
You've really got no idea what you're talking about have you?
A footballer (with a history) signs for us and somehow due to your well stated dislike, he's a 'chancer' and a 'leech'
Can you justify that?

Mind you I might agree if it does cause Wilder to walk - but if he was in on the deal - live with it!

If the rape case never happened and we had of gone up then sold Evans there would have been a mega meltdown with effigy of McCabe being burnt ont Kop.

Claims of no ambition etc. If (IF) Wilder wants him he's an innocent man with a score to settle. If wilder can channel that he could be a good player for us.

If it's McCabe meddling that's not good news.

At least the time for when he was Messi Ronaldo and Darius Henderson all rolled into one at Chesterfield away is coming down. Started off an hour or so now it's down to 45 minutes......

I don't know what to think...I have complete and total faith in Wilder...if he's on board with this and reckons he can "Do a Coutts" on him over summer and get him back to his best, we might all look silly in a year for being so shocked.

But I think the timing of this "leak" is atrocious. Sunday should be about our current players, and celebrating their magnificent achievement this season. It should not be turned into the Ched Evans show in any way, shape or form.
