Gotta say, I saw that 11 and thought FUCK!!!

But yes! Wilder got it right

Soumare was brilliant.

Second half goals masked something weird about us when we invite pressure. Is it them finally picking up or is it our bad game management? Weird.

Red card saved us I reckon but on first half we deserved the win.

Callum Ohare pure class again.

We're such an inconsistent team. Soumare and Burrows have been poor so far this season, but tonight they were both great. Play them both next game and they'll probably revert back to poor.

Wilder can add to the squad now, we just needed to get through these Christmas matches.

Jairo looks a bit knackered trying to run the midfield on his own without Peck. Blaster is still not 100%. Soumare is just so random and inconsistent. Matos is likely getting bombed out.

So when our current midfield tire that's when things start to get stretched and sloppy.

Sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition for changing things up with 4 changes and going a bit gung-ho, but they had to. It really pushed us back and it's not just "bad game management". We had a chance on the break to kill it but Johansson made a great save from Bamford, and yes, the red card probably saved us. Good win.

Another great first half followed by an awful second half. We might have scored two goals in the second half but we simply cannot deal with teams that change their tactics/formation. We run out of ideas, sit deep, can't keep the ball.

Our high pressing game works really well but exhausts a bunch of unfit players and we never look comfortable even with a two goal lead.

If we are serious about scraping in to the play offs we can't afford to let teams back in to games when we should be seeing them out easily - this needs to be addressed asap.

Agree with most of that, but looking at the game as a whole I don't think the red card saved us. We were better than them. We got our just reward.

Did it though, or did it just keep Stoke in the game.

If Pearson doesn't bring him down, you'd back Bamford to go through and make it 3-1, which would have been game over.

Instead, Stoke go down to 10 men but stay in the game scoreline wise, rather than having 11 players but potentially being 3-1 down.

I do wonder if our ‘switch offs ‘ after an hour is a fitness issue as it happens that regular ?
But as said you have to give credit to the lads for a good win tonight after Boxing Days capitulation

I thought we were good 1st half but not much from the two up front Campbell dead on his feet after 30mins Cannon hardly in the game until he scored the winner but a lot of strikers are like that. For once we came out in the 2nd half and got our goals, Stoke had to change it and did, glad they didn't start the game playing that way. But for a great save from Johansen it would have been 3-1 and game over, Bamford then drew the foul and red card that virtually killed Stoke's momentum.

Play offs 😂

They were picking up steam at 2-1 and looked livelier than us going forward. Bamford was fouled so far out it’s impossible to put a likelihood on him scoring.

It's called game state. Very few teams that are winning away from home control the game throughout. We are playing another team (who are above us in the table) that are desperate to get back into the game. They'll try anything and start taking big risks.

This season we have been disappointing and inconsistent, yet fans are still moaning when we beat teams that have recently been in the top six away from home. You should lower your expectations.

This. Currently we are consistently inconsistent.

We seem to have cracked the goal scoring issue though.

Play offs 😂

Last 10 games W6 D2 L2 = 20 points = 2 points a game = 73 points if we continue that way.
Last 6 games, but for that weird capitulation at Wrexham, which was addressed the game after, would have been a similar return.
With Jan transfer activity to come, I wouldn't say it's laughable to consider us scraping into the play-offs as a possibility by dealing with the issue raised by Nedski
Not probable, but definitely possible.

Yeah, maybe "saved us" was a bit strong, but they were definitely on top at that pont and losing a man took the wind out of their sails a bit. We might well have seen it out, but it most definitely did help us.

The legs went again. It's no deeper than that and never has been. Players on the floor cramping, players no longer running and saving themselves. The next two games will be extremely difficult.

The Laws do not mention about the likelihood of a player scoring. The law is the denying of a goal scoring opportunity (or dogso as people seem to call it).

I'd say half the team on the floor cramping answers that question. The physical drop off in terms of the pressing lines and sprints is also pretty obvious.

Watching United is like watching a boxer unloading for 2 rounds and punching out only to get twated in the 5th for the KO. This high press needs super fit squads . Because we have a shite defence we can’t sit deep either. Screwed either way aren’t we 🥺
