One or two slightly harsh comments aimed at Robbie.....terrible start now a great recovery to put us within striking distance of the top six but Peterborough are no mugs and Scunny coming up let's keep behind the lads and see where we are after next five games. I am not convinced yet that we will rip this league up but let's see shall we.
Don't diss the power of voodoo hoodoo. Now THAT is fucking irrelevant....
I was beginning to wonder if this forum had a Len.The harsh comments were clearly aimed at the ever-present and deliberate knocking of his own club at every attention-seeking opportunity, rather than the immediate issue. As such, they were entirely justified.
Nope. I've been shouted down many times for suggesting that S O D may not be the messiah that some see him as.
I also don't remember getting a great deal of support in not wanting Speed appointed as an unproven inexperienced manager.
My choice would be between Chris Wilder and Micky Adams as they both have good experience of relative success working with lower league teams with no cash. They are used to being in the situation that our new manager will find himself in, whoever is appointed.
having said that, I will fully support whoever is appointed for as long as they are in the job because to do otherwise is a frustrating and futile exercise and whatever the shoe wavers think it makes no real difference.

My criticism was based on how the signings were going. I wasn't calling for his head after 4 games. Some were. I was worried though.
I'm amused how the following results:
2-3 win against AFC Wimbledon (a dire team just promoted) currently 21st in the league
1-2 win against Gillingham (with a 91st minute penalty due to a stupid handball) currently 10th in the league
2-1 win against Oxford (poor team just promoted) currently 11th in the league
Mean that we have a great manager.
He's done really well to quickly turn things around. Let's give it a bit longer before giving him the keys to the city shall we?
OK I got Adams wrong but Wilder was my first choice.
If only Kev had listened to me in 2009 I wonder where we might be now
O,Driscoll oh no no no.I'm not sure Tufty was ready at that point. SoD would have been the right choice in my view. Many fans thought he would need too long to turn it around, though and called for a Quickfix. By Pele, they got one...
O,Driscoll oh no no no.
Did you notice a "jeez" in a previous post? I have my suspicions too.I was beginning to wonder if this forum had a Len.
Credit to CW and AK indeed. They appear to have seen the problems quickly and acted on them.
We can't ask much more of 3 wins on the bounce.
The defence has been completely altered from pre-season and early season - more work needed but we are heading in the right direction.
Trouble is - and here is where Robbie needs defending - we could easily fuck it up v Peterboro - we need to let the management work on what we now have and tighten up in various areas.
Goals to achieve In coming weeks:
1) clean sheets
2) get Fleck into the team (more creativity)
3) Get Lavery fit and in the team to put pressure on the forwards.
FFS - for me to be looking at up and coming away games - things have to be looking up

I'll keep a watch out for any 'Mebbies'Did you notice a "jeez" in a previous post? I have my suspicions too.

"We can't ask much more of 3 wins on the bounce"..........oh yes we can Lord Fulwood, we can expect to see a lengthy unbeaten run that takes us up this division until we're firing on all systems. Being grateful for small mercies shouldn't be main expectation, we should recognise that after far too long we're finally in with a shout of waving goodbye to this poxy division.
There's no arrogance or mistaken hope in what I write. Each team we face will test us, and sometimes we'll be found wanting, but I do believe that we now have a better standard of player than we've had for many a year, and that's the key to my view that Wilder and Knill are assembling a squad equipped to meet the demands of this division as well as the one above. Of course recruitment will continue, it has to if we're to improve and compete at a level we wish to be part of. Strengthening our defence and midfield are our priorities, but I do sense that Wilder needs little advice from the fans, he'll know exactly who we need if his aims are to be delivered. UTB
Maybe wishful thinking but I feel that Wilder could in time be the next John Harris and that's the biggest compliment I can give, he seems to understand the club and its fans
Thanks for elevating me to a Lord - although I am led to believe you can choose your own name as a lord - it would probably have Currie, Sheffield United or Bramall Lane somewhere in the title !
What I should have written was we couldn't ask for more than 3 wins after the disastrous start we made.
Whilst critical of two particular signings, the recent ones, plus the hard choices CW has made all over the team in personnel and formations, we are now looking a lot better.
As for a lengthy run - we would all take that - but a lengthy run will only come from a fully functioning defence which allows the midfield to push further up the field and get bodies in the box.
We should all feel much better on our side of the city - I certainly do.

I think Dublin started his footballing life as a defender at Cambridge, and Beck moved him forward chasing a game. similar to Chris Sutton, and Warhurst. I may be wrong!I was, of course, being mildly flippant, and of course I appreciated the context of your post. Completely agree, we need a mean-spirited defence who take no prisoners, but would anyone doubt Wilder's resolve to create such a beast? Not I or you I suggest.
As for signings, the ratio of players in will inevitably result in someone not becoming a regular first-team player. It happens at all teams, so I'm not particularly disappointed with this. Take Clarke for example, not hugely impressive so far. I wonder if it's crossed Wilder's mind to experiment with Clarke in a central defensive role? I know that might sound a bit far-fetched, but I recall Dion Dublin, late in his career, assuming defensive duties and doing quite well. It's probably a nonsense and shouldn't be entertained, but stranger things have happened. If it worked it'd save a fee too.

Exactly, not even 10 games in yet and the signs are apparently there that we're starting to put things together.Just because you are going to be proved wrong and Wilder will be good for us don't make yourself look silly with posts like that a couple of hours after a good away win.
Id settle for a Dave Bassett clone
I'd like to add one angle to this debate:
The reason Oxford are 11th, Gillingham 10th and Wimbledon 21st is down to us beating them.
Had they turned us over, Oxford would be joint second. Had they turned us over, Gillingham would be outright second. Wimbledon would be joint 17th.
Who'd you think you are? Coming in here with your facts and logic. Not on this forum!
This credit to Wilder business . Before I get shot down , credit should also go to Kevin McCabe and the board for keeping there council and a very low profile . Action more than words . Pulling in the same direction in seems.
Supporters perhaps for once should follow lead .

So impressed with CW so far.
