Having seen the match on Saturday why are we spending 7m on a defender when clearly we require to replace Gus, and the midfield for me offers nothing going forward, there is no Creativity in this team

I've just said the same in Shoutbox.
Peck is faaaaar from our issue, but he takes too many touches. Its like he enjoys the scrap and keeping possession rather than one touch passing or moving forward into space.

I was holding out hope that Arblaster was going to be our Championship Gerrard. The ultimate box to box player, but to say his trajectory has slowed would be an understatement.

Peck needs to leave for the development of his career … he’s by far our best player .. his off the ball movement is great often make short 10 year passes and then moving in to space to receive it back often to get ignored while we hoooof it long most of our players are like statues which is why when he has it it looks like he holds on to it too long

Agree re Arblaster … you’ve got to be physical to be a midfielder and he just isn’t at the minute

We don’t have the players to play the formation and seemingly hoping for a couple of premier league loans at the end of the window for RW/LW. Can’t see how we’re supposed to get the ball to them though.

Reminds me of the dying days of 3-5-2 when he refused to change it.

If we get a pacy left winger I think blaster getting balls out to our wingers as we counter is a obvious way to create with coh running in unmarked from deep to flick them in

A good left winger combined with Donavan on the right and Ohare playing centrally instead of statue Cannon would help massively. However we desperately need a central midfielder who can break the lines by beating his man and drawing a defender out to create more space for Bamford.

The only player we have who has ever done that is Blaster but that was prior to his knee injury. And back to the OP there is no way we shd be spunking all our meagre budget on a CB as that was the least of our worries on Saturday. If we have 10m to spend pay 5m on a CB and the other 5m on creativity.

Tis no wonder they don't pass it back to Peck if he's then taking 10 years to pass it back, ffs this is where our creativity has gone 😉

We didn't create alot at the weekend no.
And the line up to start with suggested that unless Seriki and Donovan did well down the wing. Which they did till final balls. We might not create much.
Down the left O'Hare didn't influence enough.

1st game of the season though, we need some new influx not just at CB but at the top end of the pitch. With that, our dynamic may change.

But this was the 1st league game of the season.
How many times do we actually look fantastic on the opening day? How many times do we even win on opening days?

Can't see us paying 7 million for anyone..we ain't got a pot to piss in.

Personally I'm not too concerned at the lack of creativity, although its not a great watch I agree , I didn't expect it to be either.

Concentrating on being organised , resilient and not conceding appears to be very much the priority." Build from the back , you dont conceded you dont lose" is often quoted from coaching manuals.

Most goals aren't scored from brilliant team play or worldies but simply from defensive mistakes , individually or as a team.

Saturday we were poor in pocession so its hard to judge how effective we can be but Rome wasnt built in a day .

I want brilliant attacking football as much as the next bloke but let's give the team and coaches a chance to work on what we have for a few weeks at least .

Bang on, we didn't offer anything going forward but it was nice to see us solid for the first time in ages. Thats our foundation
