If the tibia and fibula have both snapped which it looks like to me, he will be out until next July / August at the earliest. If he has snapped both he will have a titanium rod put down the tibia to repair it followed by a long slow recovery.

In the meantime we can pat Sordell on the head and say “think nothing of it...”

I have seen picture Coutts leg looks badly broken. He will be out for season by the look of that.

Gutted for the lad and our team.

HH

I've just got back from work. I know coutts was stretchered off and the traveling fans sang his name in the 2nd half. Don't know what happened though?. Utb

awful challenge ,feel for coutsy hope he's ok in the long run .tough to get back from a bad break at 31.top of the league and gutted.
just gutted for paul.

Shut up dick head. Stick to the bin lids you wanker.

And you are? You are in Swindon, and a junior?

Any indication as to when you’ll make a valuable contribution to a Blades forum? You appear on here only for one thing - to piss off United fans. What’s your deal?

You’re latest little adventure being a remark on Paul Coutts. Now any other alternative, yet balanced view would be welcomed but yours? Clear provocation based on the serious injury of a top Blades midfielder. You’re a disgrace - but we already knew that.

Oh look it's the anti-united 'you can't have an opinion unless you've played league football' idiot.

If you leave your foot in a challenge or block, that high off the ground with studs showing - it doesn't matter how quickly or unintentional it may be. It is dangerous and reckless.

The evidence being Paul Coutts leg that is broken in fucking two.

And playing the 'you've not played' line is just ridiculous. I can think of many people who have played the game who talk absolute fucking bollocks - it is not a pre requisite for commenting on what or what isn't deemed a dangerous challenge.

Patronising idiot.

Geeeeeeeetarman didn't really play as such anyway. Especially since he couldn't handle the ale.
Luckily he's a rock star these days apparently. New album coming out any day now.....

Gutted doesn’t remotely cover it I’d have given em 9 pts ever mind 3 to have our chief string puller available.., I’m absolutely fucking sick , that midfield 3 played as a unit outplaying & outclassing way way bigger names .. it’s not a case of signing someone it’s how they fell ...well and truly fucked off !!!

Gutted for us and for the lad. He was playing the best football of his career. Still young enough to come back but feel for him having just got form after a long injury battle with his knee.

I thought Wilder handled himself well as usual. You can imagine an irate Warnock ranting at the ref and the player and this taking the headlines. Chris made his point about the ref and spoke with Clough about the player. He didn’t embarass himself or the club ib the process.

Clough will also be gutted. He had Coutts at Derby. He brought him to United. He would have been happy to see him finally over his knee injury.

From a United perspective I just hope it’s not a Rob Hulse moment.

I don't think many are saying it is a malicious tackle but fucking hell even that massive Wendy fan Blunkett can see it was late and reckless, a penalty and a red card all day long. He's snapped his leg in two FFS

In the sense that he deliberately set out to break bones, no, but it was a dreadfully dangerous tackle of the kind that always carries a high risk.

Get well soon Couttsy. Fingers crossed you'll be back soon and running out with the lads at Old Trafford, the Emirates etc. next season in the PL.

Also for what it's worth, some of the in-fighting on this thread is embarrassing. Grow up lads.

I took the liberty of watching the 'highlights' (if you can call them that) from the Burton vs Pigs game from earlier this season.

Clough said that Sordell 'doesn't have it in him' to do this sort of thing. Well, maybe not deliberately, but he needs to have a look at himself, as in that game - exactly the same player, exactly the same type of tackle on Westwood. High foot, studs showing, stamping down on the oppositions leg. Dangerous and irresponsible. At the very least he needs to sort out his technique.

In his commentary for that game, following that challenge, for which Westwood had to go off, Rob Staton says: 'You wouldn't want to be on the end of that one'. Yes indeed Rob :(

Am in Aussie and just seen the pics of the injury on here. I feel gutted, really gutted for him and just want to wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. A broken leg is more serious than if it’s a pen, red card, 3 points, who’s gonna play that role etc., etc. I love Couttsy’s style of play and ability and look forward to him making a full recovery and playing for us again. I know all the lads will do their best to take care of business while he repairs. Come on Couttsy, you BLADE!

Absolutely gutted.

Massive loss for us, feels like the Hulse injury all over again. Nobody in our squad who can replace him nor anyone who we can afford who we can bring in to replace him.

Can't help but feel like this could be a turning point in the season for us.

Think people need to calm down. We aren't a one man team. Everyone is always going on about how were greater than the sum of our parts, we don't stop being good just because we're down a man. Losing Coutts is awful but we have the talent on and off the pitch to weather this.

We have the hardest working team in the league, we have togetherness, between us we'll pick up any slack in midfield I'm sure.

Plenty of players I bet who are raring to be given the chance. We might have to change styles a little, Lundstram might just need a few games to improve his speed of thought, he's only young, with some combination of Samir, Bash, Brooks, Duffy, Fleck and maybe even Thomas who's looked great from what I've seen. Still plenty of talent in there.

Can't replace Coutts like for like but let's play a few without him first, see how we go.

Important things are Couttsy getting better, and getting behind the lads on Tuesday against Fulham.

Wilder and Knill will be formulating plans all weekend. We'll be reyt.

Been told he's fractured his fibula and tibia, no ligament damage.

4-6months out, more the latter.

Billy, Wilder and some other squad members travelled to hospital with him after the game, rest of squad including Knill came back on the coach.

That's saved me putting my thoughts down brom....totally agree with all the above.

Sounds like the best Coutts could have hoped for

He’s a cunt. You’re talking the shit, pal. Your view carries no more weight because you write a blog I’m afraid. Use your fucking eyes. It’s a horrible tackle on a proper footballer.

I clearly forgot to mention that I write a blog, which means my opinion is more valid than everybody else's. Next time I post, I'll make sure I write that first, so everybody is aware.

The more I watch it, the more I'm inclined to think he's a cunt. I'd say it's more pathetic than cuntish though...semantics, eh.

2 years I like many on here offered to drive Coutts anywhere he wanted transferring to.

I complained when we bought journeyman Clarke, and gasped when Sharp was made captain etc.

The sum is greater than the parts, if Tuffty has chosen Ludstrum he has faith he can make him a cog in our machine. What has amazed everyone including Blades fans is we have no mega stars, no pre madonnas. We epitomise team and that includes the fans so get behind Ludstrum he's got a big job on his hands, the team will support him and so should we just like we did with Coutts when he came good.

All the best Couttsy, I am gutted for him. He has been in the form of his life having already come back from 1 horror injury.

There isn't a straight replacement, but CW and AK have shown their tactical nous over the last 12 months I trust them to fill the gap. I think there will also be a reaction from our "team". Those boys all pull together, they will want to do it for Coutts.
