Coutts

Gutted. Absolutely gutted.

Gutted for the lad. He's been pivotal for us and in the form of his career.
Gutted for the club, he's been so important.
Gutted for the fans. Its been brilliant watching him.

Bring Whiteman back in Jan and then its over to him and Lundstram to bridge the gap, barring signings, but what a gap.

From that photo that's not a mistimed block. That's a disgraceful, cynical, spiteful attempt (successful) to injure a fellow professional. Unless and until I see concrete evidence to the contrary, yes he is a cunt. A cunt that needs a taste of his own medicine asap.

So you've seen a photo? Sorry, you're talking shit. I've seen it back a couple of times now. Coutts smashes the ball and the guy turns and throws a leg at the ball - in a split second. It's by no means purposeful. He's not a cunt.

Henrik Larsson was a similarly sickening injury, he came back. Hoping it's a nice clean injury and with modern medicine he can get back quicker.

We'll get through it.

It would be more accurate to say "Chris Wilder confirms that Marvin Sordell broke Paul Coutts' leg".

I very much doubt that Sordell set out to injury Coutts but his technique is absolutely awful. He's a coward: he's pulled out of the block but left his leg in anyway.

No I'm fuckin not and neither am I an overreactionary fucker either!
Let's wait for the after match comments from our management before we all Wade in on the strength of a still shot eh!

Fair play to you mate , it's easy to get carried away when something like this happens . But that's a shocking challenge . The balls nowhere near them at point of impact . I'll say it again , at best that's a dangerous late challenge made with studs showing . At worst he's played the man and not the ball .

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure bones aren't suppose to bend like that.

Also I've experienced the exact same thing, you can tell from his reaction. I snapped one and fractured other, if he's not broken or fractured anything I'll donate two ton to the charity of your choice.

No defence. No excuses. No nothing. That is utterly horrendous. The fact that the scumbag has got off scot free makes it even worse. Clueless bastard officials in this league allowing thuggish bastard players to do things like this.

Sincerely hope Burton get relegated. They deserve nothing more than that if this is their idea of what football is.

It's just unlucky for me, Sordell hasn't slid in recklessly he's tried to block the shot but was late. Then with the force of Coutts' leg has following through after the shot, it's broke his leg.

Bit of a perfect storm type situation, just one of those unfortunate things that happen in football.

I guarantee Sordell will feel like shit about this.

I have never seen a player try to block a shot by pointing his studs towards an opponent.

Gutted for Coutts. Praying its not too bad.

I think the team did well tonight coming out and seeing the game out, they would have been just as gutted as the rest of us

That picture is hideous.

Coutts has been absolutely integral to how we play, an absolute goliath of a player.
Fingers crossed he manages to return to the level he's been performing at.
So, so unfortunate to finally hit his stride after a previous serious injury and this happens

Gutted beyond words.

Mate, I don't doubt for a moment Paul has at least a tib fracture, and probably fib too. But I'm equally sure that Sordell was neither malicious nor reckless, despite those awful photos.
I too have had a double fracture as a result of a tackle (1974), was out 8 months.

Sordell stretched for the ball and didnt get there. Coutts was going in the opposite direction and all the energy went straight for the weakest point. It's a fucking awful result for Coutts (Fingers crossed it' a clean break and heals well) but there are tens of similar situations in a game where the timing is slightly different, both players get up and nobody remembers them. I just dont believe we'd be condemning one of our players if the situation was reversed.

It should've been a pen, but it happened so quickly that the lads just tried to put a block. It's horrific to see as a still image, but in real time it happened in less than a second. I don't think he's the utter cunt you describe.

I suppose you’d like to think that, but in my experience, even in a split second, when you’re playing football, you know exactly where your foot is going to make contact with your opponent.
That doesn’t mean he intended to inflict such serious damage, but sorry I don’t buy your misjudgement theory either.

Maybe not malicious but without a doubt reckless we are supposed to be having a game of football not MMA.

First sensible post I've seen on this. I'm sure sordell didn't mean to 'do' Coutts and deliberately break his leg. But it was a lazy attempt to block that was reckless and ultimately dangerous. I don't really care if he gets banned retrospectively or not as ultimately it makes no difference to Coutts' situation.

And he's got his eyes closed. Wasn't even fucking looking where his studs up challenge was going. Twat.

with the angle of his leg I wouldn't be surprised if its a double lower leg fracture. feel bad for him and the team. and myself :(
