Someone can't count the months.
He played from February through to the beginning of May - 3 and a tiny bit months. He then was injured until late September - no way have you 'watched him for 7 months'

Someone can't count the months.
It's a long enough time frame to make a judgment on a player. A lot longer than a few games he's meant to have miraculously upgraded his ability. Let's wait and see if his form continues for the next few months, then we can start making claims about whether or not he's as good as the OP dramatises. He played from February through to the beginning of May - 3 and a tiny bit months. Some of us saw a player last season but were disagreed with by many on here. He clearly had the ability I thought ,much more than Baxter who relies on good fortune rather than vision with his passing unlike Coutts. It was obviously a long road from recovery for him and he didn't influence games due to this. My worry was that he would get injured again but always thought he was a footballer . I hope he carries it forward and Adkins doesn't mess about playing him out position
Again. No he hasn't.
He was our best player at Barnsley and Swindon last season when he wasn't 100 per cent fit and always showed a great first touch and football brain. And you have not seen him for around 50 per cent of his time here. So how can you make a comment on his performances above, when you haven't seen them?

And it's becoming more evident the longer we're in the third division. Watching poor quality for a long time goes a way to clouding judgements and overreacting to form fluctuations. The OP is a perfect example. He might have had a good few games, no doubting that. But it's far too dramatic a reaction to be making some of the claims in the OP.Fans are to easily wooed,

You've gone from giving him away for free to "definitely" wanting to keep him. And that on the basis of a few games he might have put in a good performance. Or even just the one game. It doesn't take a genius to work out why that's such a dramatical claim.Which 'dramatic claim' from the OP do you particularly disagree with from your season* watching him play?
*Later revised down to 7 months, later revised down to 3 months?

You've admitted yourself in the original post how you didn't think much to Coutts before the last few games, if not just the last game. It's the minuscule time period you're using to base your opinion on his miraculous upturn in ability that has made you go from giving him away for free to definitely keeping him that makes your original post a bit of a ridiculous and overly dramatical one.Hang about, you've watched him for 3 months a year ago and decided he's no good, but I've watched him the same season, all of this season and seen the improvement across the course of this season (not one game as you've made up) yet can't come to the opinion that we should keep him?
Yet you also feel qualified to comment about how we should definitely keep Che Adams?
Curiouser and curiouser.

The others being Brayford, Sharp and???Moving on from the negativity of yesterday, I have to admit how wrong I was about Coutts.
Last season I would have given him away for free, but now he's fit i think he's a class act at this level.
Calm on the ball, good first touch and can pick a pass.
A player I'd definitely want us to keep next season.
So for me we've got 4 entire players from our current squad that I would keep.

You've done well to evade a lot of my post there haven't you?I'm close to bowing out of this discussion as your lack of rational logic makes it difficult to hold any sensible discussion.
I've made no reference to last game or last few games in my OP, so as much as it would suit you, that's not something I've said, that's something you've made up.
If you'd taken into account the qualifying reasons around his 'miraculous' improvement, or watched him play recently, your understanding might be a little better.
As for ridiculous or overly dramatic OP (which I'm still yet to see evidence of) you'd have to go some way to top where you rated/criticised the entire team's performance for a match you didn't watch, concentrating your criticism for the players that had really rather good games. That was gold class.
You know it isn't made up. The fact is Coutts has had a few good games by the general consensus (not even sure on "few", possibly even just the one), and you've made quite a dramatic conclusion on the back of it.I've gone into quite a bit of detail on each part, even the inaccurate bits that you made up to try and make your point stronger.

Or is it...Man suggests keeping hold of player who is playing well this season after player crap last season = dramatic conclusion.
Man who doesn't attend football matches ignorantly/stubbornly sticks to opinion formed on player from last season = sensible conclusion?
For that reason, I'll bow out of this nonsense.
Feel free to keep plugging away though punchy.
Or is it...
Man goes from wanting to give a player away for free to definitely wanting to keep him on the back of a few good performances.
Man who has seen said player play for a lot longer than the few good performances on which the miraculous change in opinion is held suggests the first man is being over the top and a bit of a drama queen.
He'll no doubt be back in the bargain bin as soon as his form drops.
Well that lasted long didn't it?Yes I'm that much of a drama queen I might:
* Compose a self pitying flouncing thread announcing my departure from the forum only to return the next day
* Sell my 'season ticket' mid way through the season like a good fair weather plastic
* Repeatedly cry to the site moderators because everyone's picking on me
Pretty pathetic wouldn't you agree?
Enjoy the rest of the thread.
Always been a decent player in there for me. Much fitter this season and it's showing.Moving on from the negativity of yesterday, I have to admit how wrong I was about Coutts.
