What's happened to Paul Coutts, I cant place him mentioned at all in any pre-season matches.

He and Alcock seem to be the forgotten men, although one bloke on Twitter mentioned seeing Coutts outside the South Stand today.

He can still drive, he brought Brayford and McGahey to the game.

Don't know what his injury is.

Completely forgot about him. The squad is huge.
35 players in fact, immoderate by anyones standards.

But nooo, it's not that big.... let's sign a few more without selling anyone and make the wage bill even bigger!

Sounds good to me.

Was discussing this earlier, same goes for Alcock too.
I think Adkins is planning on letting them go cause Flynn is injured but Adkins keeps mentioning him, whereas these two seem to be out in the cold.

Alcock was also in attendance. I think Adkins demands all squad players attend even if not selected.

Although some of course were through injury, when you look at the names not even in the squad today it does show the huge size of our squad. Then again, maybe all these injuries are showing why we're carrying extra players. Just off the top of my head those who weren't selected today (not all injured)..

Coutts
Alcock
Brayford
Kennedy
Done
Sammon
Diego
DCL
McGahey
Harris
Flynn
Cuvelier
Khan
Dimaio

That's 14 who could quite easily make a case to at least be on the bench (maybe not the last 2 or McGahey) and i'm sure there's more i've forgot.

Didn't Adkins say he needed time to get to know each and every player and that some will stay for a couple of months or more if that time can be well spent by his coaching staff developing the players. Even if they have little chance of game time, time spent with his "excellent" coaches can be time well spent.

As I've alluded to before, these early weeks with Adkins and his coaches are very important for a number of our players whose future can be at stake. If the coaches think the players have something to work on they'll keep them and continue to work with them over a longer period. If not, they'll be moved on, maybe initially on loan but all the time looking for another club to take their contracts on.

Brandy, McGinn, King and Johns were all contracted footballers when Clough arrived in October 2013 less than two years ago and are now out of the game completely. McGinty is in the Conference South.

not this again.....

you might as well say there are 97 players... as you forgot to include all the under 18s, and under 16s (after all thats where Reed was plucked from... so any one of them may play...

we have 26 "first teamers" the rest of kids that are being given/have been given a glimpse of the first team. (of those 26 I think we now how 7 injured (Done, Brayford, Alcock, Coutts, Cuvelier, Harris, Flynn) so that gives us just 19 FIT first teamers... the match day squad is 18... so hardly the huge mass you think...

Cheers Woody. He might not have got on with some and bullied the fuck out of others, but that's an impressive list of rejects right there. Well got shot Nige.

not quite sure how to edit my post but I noticed 2 others on the "injury list" McGahay and Kennedy... who are in the 26 I referred to... so that actually leaves us with 17 FIT first team players...

If they are kids and not 'first teamers' like you say, why are they in the squad?

I suppose it depends what you mean by the squad... considering last seasons "squad numbers" which you need to have in order to even be on the bench... there are only 30 squad numbers listed... (5 less than your reported 35, even including the 3 new signings that takes us to 33) which I have asked you to provide me with a list of said 35... :tumbleweed:I seem to be still waiting... despite me providing you with my list of 26... I dont appear to have had my request reciprocated...

I assume the list of the 36 you have includes the likes of Jake Eyre, Otis Khan, Dominic Calvert-Lewis, Ben Whiteman, Willis etc. as I would be suprised if they had 3 starts between them... hence not even considering them fringe players like I would with Diego and Reed. (who I included in the 26)

as I have previously mentioned the some players were placed on the bench (a to make up numbers... meaning we were clealry short on numbers or b, to give them a taste of what may come if they apply themselves) they doesnt make them a first team squad player in the same way it wouldnt make me a highflying banker if I happened to have a 1 week work experience place with an investment banker....

Number 8 so he must be in Adkins plans, I for one am glad. Very good player when fit and firing.
