Cotterill has gone

Unfortunately this is the one that seals it for me ,it shows Blackwell up as a negative ,weak ,tactically poor manager. We are in a worse situation than under Robson and unfortunately some fans will accept an undeserved ,lucky point against the shit that are Barnsley as a sign that we are heading in the right direction.
Half the team are loan signings ,more are useless and even more are past it playing for a pension ,the rest are either on their way or gone. I truly believe the players have no faith in the manager ,it is dour boring football devoid of entertainment or flair and has been for a long time.
The man is out his depth ,cannot manage and we should get rid of him immediately to avoid flirting with relegation.

Its world-gone-mad. We supposedly paid £1.5m for him, letting him go at £1m loss? Hardly re-profiling, nor sound business.

It'sOK Blackwells Master Plan involves playing left backs on the right wing and as we have too many wingers including one who despite being at the club during its worst injury crisis ever and the squad down to six fit players still cant get a game despite being sign from a Premier League club pre season
We dont need Cotterill any more we have Stewart and perhaps Naysmith when he gets match fit to bomb down the wing.
Short of quality lets sell one of our few international players for a million £ less than we bought him last season!

3 points there

1. He didn't come on at Leyton. He played from the start and was woeful in the first half (which we ended 1-0 down). He vastly improved in the 2nd half as we ended up 4-1 winners

2. He has scored ONE good goal from distance. All his other goals have been pens.

3. Frankly, I can't see being a Welsh international being a selling point. if I was Welsh I would probably be pushing for a place in their team...

But he did get 9 assists last season. Comfortably more than any other player, which strikes me as pretty good going when (according to one poster on trhis thread anyway!) he has supposedly only put in a couple of decent crosses in all his time here.

Blackwell obviously doesnt fancy him - not big enough, not hard enough, not physical enough, doesnt track back enough - yep skillful players are not right for Blackwell.

I totally agree but let's remember that there is a person involved here not just a commodity.

If his mother is ill and he wants to leave then there is little we can do about it.

I may be well off base here, but i suspect that if he was a permanent fixture in the first team we could accommodate him getting time to see his mum.

Again may be well off base, and if i am my apologies, but sick relatives do seem to pop out of the woodwork when players don't get their own way.

First sentence - agree totally.

Second sentence - I don't know what is wrong with Mrs C and I know you are talking about footballers (like Ireland, for example) but let's give him (Cotts) the benefit of the doubt eh? Awkward subject and I think we'd better leave it.

It's just depressing to think we're replacing genuine young talent with 30 odd year old has beens or never will be's.

I can't see how the likes of Cresswell and Little 'reprofile' our squad for the long-term instead of keeping a young lad that would hopefully get better.

Its back to the old Warnock ways of the early 2000's. Expecting Tommy Black to turn up soon.

I was thinking of Robbie Savage as well, but you're right, until the facts are known we should leave it.

Just in case any thinks I might be one of those who 'sits on the fence' I would like to say this.
Get this buffoon away from the club asap. The man is totaly inept and a complete PR disaster. Chairman Shutters should have persued his resignation
speech after the Wembley fiasco.
We are in a mess - make no mistake.A completelly rudderless ship heading for a disaster.
Please leave before Xmas and give us all a bit of hope for the New Year.

This is unbelievable. I really liked Cotts, one of the few players who could dribble in the team and not hoof it up at the first opportunity, good penalty taker and scorer of one of our few good goals this season.

Attempting to unify a strangely abusive and bipolar thread...

The uncontroversial truths are:

1, Cotts is talented.
2, Cotts is inconsistent and infuriatingly lacking a football brain.

So the the former quality makes him a rare thing in the current squad, and selling him is a depressing thought to many of us. Treacey is probably a better player, but he doesn't belong to us, and the better he does the less likely we are to be able to buy him (Halford mk2).

We've been losing talent at a horrible rate since the play-off final and the parachute payments stopped. Mid table is where we are and where we'll stay until we can actually build again.

Gutted to see Cotts leaving, a really talented player who never got a fair chance. Strange as Blackwell bought him in the first place so he must have known what he was like (ie a raw talent). I am reaching the end of the road with Blackwell, the lumpball tactics are crap to watch when he uses them, and he only got away with it last season because the good defense enabled us to grind out results. Good luck to Cotts at Swansea.

I'm looking for a reference to Cotterill.................

Other than disagreeing with the notion that Treacy is necessarily better, I think that this is a really good additional point. We are chasing off someone we own and replacing him with someone we don't, which means there will be yet further signings and needless turnover.

Unless of course there are further signings, without additional personal issues, already in the pipeline.

He's already said that any signings in the window he wants to be permanent.

Fine. Seeing is believing with this lot. After the last couple of years it's wiser to watch what they do, rather than listen to what they say.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a quote that verifies cotterill's personal issues?

He withdrew from a recent international squad with the media citing his mother's illness as the reason.

Seth Bennett said a number of times last night that Cotts had "personal problems" which were he thought were the main factor behind a move to Swansea. I thought Bennett was a bit naughty as it was easy to infer from what he was saying and the way he said it, that Cotts' 'problem' was more sinister than a family illness.

Fair enough. The interview he gave t'other week to the yorkshire post seemed to indicate that he wanted to stay and fight for his place.

If he was a regular in the team, i'm sure the club and him come to some sort of arrangement where he gets an extra day off a week. If i was in his shoes, that's what i'd probably ask for.

People can dress this up with all the bullshit that they want. Oh he misses sheep and all that. YThe fact is that we are letting go of a young, talented footballer. Someone who is inconsistent but very often dangerous. He almost always creates something and his assist rate speaks for itself. At to that the fact that he is deadly from then 12 yards and you are wondering why the fuck we are letting him go for 500k.

I've not even mentioned the fact that we are supposed to be crushed by ijuries and have a small squad. It doesn't matter though we can always play Jordan Stewart down the right instead.

I'll personally get on the fucking train from London and go back to Sheffiled to pack Blackwells bags for this one. Fucking disgrace.

What s the problem, we've already got the solution on the books havent we??

Arent we making Cresswell a permanent signing for £500k in Jan?? ;)
