Corrupt football

Football rules are corrupt/biased, its basically like they're allowing/encouraging cheating.

Corner comes into the box, Southampton player accidently elbows it out, no penalty. He didn't know anything about it therefor its not a penalty.

However, lets reverse the roles..

Corner comes into the box, Jack O'Connell accidently handballs it as he controls it, then volleys it into the goal, He didn't know anything about it but VAR rules the goal out for handball in the build up.

How is the outcomes of those two any different? Its pretty much giving the defender a benefit/advantage of using their body (aslong as their arms aren't above their head) to block a shot.

But then The FA contradicts that in their first sentence on the new laws of handball page:

The law remains that deliberate handball is an offence. But accidental handball will also be a free-kick (or penalty if inside the penalty area) if...

- the ball goes into the goal off an attacker

- a player gets the ball using their arm or hand and then scores, or creates a goalscoring opportunity

- a player's hand or arm has made their body "unnaturally bigger"

- the player's arm or hand is above their shoulder (unless the player has controlled the ball on to their own arm or hand)

I would argue that the Southampton defenders arm was in an un-natural position, because if his arm wasn't there the ball goes to JOC, now he may not have scored but it would still have been classed as a goalscoring chance.

I feel like these two scenarios, with two very different outcomes is a shit rule.

Not even accidental, Ward-Prowse saw where the ball was going and then looked away to make it look accidental.

Don’t blame refs. Blame the cheating players and their managers for coaching them to cheat. Top league is rife with it.

I think Wilder may well be playing the battle for hearts and minds with his comments yesterday (maybe seeing how Warnock was last time?) but I actually agree with him.

I've never been Mason's biggest fan but I've seen too many OTT comments about him imho.

Neither did I think Soton were too bad in the cynical department compared to most others but it's clear that at this level the pressure put on refs goes up a notch.

People also need to appreciate the laws and directives the refs need to follow sometimes too before yelling cheat etc.

dont blame the refs? there in charge of the game! Mason is a very experienced referee, who did a bad job yesterday in my opinion. He deserves stick for his performance

That's generous. Sunday league sides don't deserve that level of incompetence and bias. The man is a disgrace to his profession.

How long have southampton been in the PL now? Just wondering how many seasons you need to survive in order to get a pet referee to help you with tough away games...

The rule is clear. Accidental handball in assisting or scoring a goal - goal disallowed. Accidental handball whist defending- no penalty. It's the same for both sides, we just didn't get the rub of the green yesterday.
