Just an observation. In the last two games united have had 18 corners from their attacking play. Only Scored from one and that was by a opposing player. Needs some working on Chris:)

Weird because as soon as Norwood arrived we looked bloody dangerous from corners. Think we scored from a fair few.

Against Norwich (Egan off Rhodes) and Villa (JOC) definitely, and maybe another.

Then we stopped doing anything. They're not bad corners, we're getting on the end of them most of the time, but no goals.

Fleck seemed to be on a few of them yesterday and we did have a lot, but he was putting most into the danger areas.

For me the signs of poor corners, in my opinion are:
-Keeper claims easily
-Corner goes flying past because its too high, too wide etc
-Defender clears unchallenged.

I actually thought corners were decent yesterday as the above didn't happen much.

The last one we scored before yesterday was at Brentford the other week and that was also an OG!

Weird post.

I thought it would be praise that we now appeared to be scoring from them. 1 goal last night, 1 goal v Brentford. Plus another disallowed last night which had Washington left, I think would've gone in and stood.

So that's 3 times we've had it in the net from corners in last 3 games.

Not many score from corners, in fact in modern football it's quite rare. I think we've done a lot better than previous years.

Would rather see Norwood on them personally ,Fleck seems to take the majority atm

Egan’s header was going wide

Sky showed an angle yesterday that seemed to show it going wide. I’ll try and find it

Just to add to your signs of a poor corner, when the taker doesn’t beat the first man and when the ball goes straight out of play, both infuriate the shit out of me.

I thought it was on first viewing but the replays show it was going wide. If only Washington wasn’t up the keeper’s arse ey
I only saw one replay and it looked like it was going in, admittedly it wasn’t the best angle, I’d appreciate anyone with any footage of all the other replays just so I can sleep tonight. :)

Was delighted when Norwood started taking them as not only were they a better quality, but it also frees Fleck up to “lurk” on the edge of the box and have chance to smash a few that are knocked out to him. Been wanting a player to do that for years; every other team seems to.

I thought sharp did a job on their keeper during our corners, crowded him out giving him no room for manoeuvre without without giving a foul away.

Corners were much better yesterday, Fleck takes a better one than Norwood, who constantly over hits them. In fact I was wondering why we didn't put someone where he normally sends them & I suspect is the reason Fleck is now on them.

Here it is in black and white our corners are still poor even though we’ve got a new dead ball expert taking most of them. It’s baffling really.

Agree, I used to cheer when we get a corner. Nowadays it can be dangerous winning a corner because it can give the opponents the opportunity to get a breakaway

For the Statto’s: there was a book of football myths that came out a few years ago.

It proved that corners are poor goalscoring opportunities and “ bogey-sides” don’t exist. (At least not the ones fans think are their bogey sides).

It also dismissed ref bias, and the widely held view that “things tend to even themselves out over a season”. They don’t!

It could shatter the delusions of many so I’ll stop there.

Maybe the delivery is right but the players trying to head it in arent?

Normally when your team takes a corner, two players from your team are in the centre circle marking the opposing striker, only 7 players from your team are in the penalty box against 10 opponents including the keeper who is the only one in the box that can use his hands

Yep I wouldn’t argue with that mate. We weren’t scoring from corners before Norwood came and to my owd eyes at least they look pretty good compared to last season

Maybe we should try the love train as Hoddle describes it.
