It can't just be him on his own. We need someone with pinpoint delivery & someone to cover in midfield when we're pushing men up. So it'll have to be £10m for flint, £10m for pascal groß and £6m for ryan woods. We'd defo score more corners then.

Oh, sorry i didn't realise you were being facetious. ;)

I was and I wasn’t haha. The deliviers into the box come with variation some floated some short with blocks here there and everywhere.

But we don’t have someone 6ft 4 that’s exceptional in the air. Players like Leon / Donaldson / Basham / Stearman are all good in the air. JoC probably the best but he’s not huge.

When a corner gets pinged in at pace, a defensive header can clear the ball more or less to the half way line. A floated corner is far more difficult to head clear and we can keep the pressure on if we win the ball in the 2nd phase. That's why i think we float them in more alately.

Dear Chris who can do no wrong... well not the big stuff anyway..

How about getting something done about our corners, they’re wank aren’t they, why cross into the box when it’s a disaster, be better off keeping the players outside the box, quick pass and a player running on and crossing into the box from the edge of the box..

I’m saying take a short corner and the guy coming on whip it in and also, why are players running away from the net and trying to head it back into the net, seen it twice tonight with O’Connell, set them up on the edge of the box, and then they run on to meet the ball at pace.

I’m a little old school but it’s my belief that our corners need working on, running away from goal and heading it back takes all the pace off it, come forward at pace to meet the ball, and if defenders are marking you at a corner and you go out of the box they have to follow you, cross the ball into the space where the player will arrive and he meets the ball, the corners are poor at the best of times, today they were shit, and cost us at least 8 minutes of time wasting from them by turning possession over to a team who have come for a point, like Bolton, who sadly got all three.

I’m not having a pop at wilder even though I’m angry at Clayton coming of for mr Man Utd who did fuck except make it that clarke had to do his pressing while he strolled about....ahem.. but corners worry me...anybody else.?

Your attack on James Wilson needs some work. It’s wank, isn’t it?

Very few goals are scored from corners by any team. Fans the length and breadth of the country complain about corners, free-kicks and throw-ins. Football fans perpetuate myths.

Thanks Bergen Blade always appreciate your input and analysis!

Yeah, i'm not sure why he's not better in the air at corners!

Because he heads it like a defender, up and away. So does Bash to a lesser extent.

Perhaps bring back Mick Jones’ method He used to start his run up from the same distance as Michael Holding! No wrestling in the penalty area for Mick.

It baffles me how many people around me go mad when we waste corner after corner, yet when we try something like a short one or something different, they immediately groan and moan even louder for not doing exactly what they've just been moaning about.

They’re not very bright. They also go mad when players don’t “shooooot” when forty yards from goal, off balance with a solid wall of defenders five yards from their face, don’t they?

Do they go berserk when someone takes up their daft invitation and predictably blazes it ten yard high and wide?

Are they heard to exhort ‘gerrituptfield’ from time to time?

I think I’ve met them. They share a brain cell near me.

Int Lenny supposed to be an expert dead ball kicker?

Thats them alright. And also “gerritinfookinbox”. They also have a sideline in moaning about Billy Sharp and wanting him dropped and then when he is, moan about how every half chance we fluff would have been scored by Billy Sharp.

Actually thats not a bad idea, as long as you time the run so that you meet the ball, you can start your run outside the are.

As for JOC, he seems to be heading it from a standing start a lot of the time, like Bergen Blade says because he's often the blocker, but often when he jumps, he's on the way down by the time he heads it

we’re a fickle bunch <sigh> :D
like the tw@t behind me.. always moaning about Leon.. he’s now his biggest fan.. i think we like to see players that turn it around.. no coincidence that leon and couttsy are the fans biggest favourites.. same as jack last season
if you go the other way though god help you (brayford)

From memory I have never seen Mick Jones play for the Blades so you mean when he played for us he started his run from well way from the box every time we had a corner?

Taking a corner is a technical aspect of the game. If you practice long enough you'll learn the technique, a bit like Jonny Wilkinson with the rugby ball. He got the right advice and then dedicated himself to the task. The number of kicks he got on goal were about the same as the average number of corners in a game so what's the big deal. TC could drop the ball within a couple of feet where he intended it when he took them (it wasn't always Woody). He's still around, why don't they just ask him how it's done, then identify someone with the nous then get to work on him.

The present state of affairs is a fucking shambles.
