Cooper

Whenever Wider is asked about Cooper, he seems to play it down or go off on one. With the window fast approaching I think I know why.
Yes some on here could take a leaf out of Wilders book.

I think he's overrated, not really had much to do. The penalty save was basically down to it being the worst taken penalty ever, Lee Baxter would have saved it.
His kicking is no where near good enough for the Premiership, he dosent command his area that well.

Where far better keepers for United, infact I would put Cooper somewhere between Nicky John's and Derek Richardson in Uniteds list of goal keepers.
Maybe he'll improve over the next four seasons but if i was a Premiership club looking for a good keeper I would be all over that Beadle who looks the most promising keeper I have seen in decades, something backed up by over 250,000 Wednesday fans who are experts on everything to do with football.

Don't like him either, but he earned his move to Arsenal and games for England. Cooper has the potential, but has never played for England at any age group and will do well to earn a move to a top PL team.
If Ramsdale hadn't been at Arsenal he would have got nowhere near the England squad.

Never seen a keeper for us be so calm.

Whilst the whole side has helped keep the goals against down. When called upon he's kept his focus and made crucial saves. Sometimes impressive saves too.

Great signing for 2m.

Mind you recruitment this summer was very good. Albeit I still feel we are a smidge short up top.

Youth's stepped up really well though. Peck, Seriki and now One all becoming squad or starters. Arblaster before hand however he was already a starter at the end of last season.

I think we have finally found our GK: so much confidence in this young GK….

Really surprised that Liverpool and Manchester City didn't go for Cooper bearing in mind they are looking to replace their current aging goalkeepers. Cooper would probably walk into most premiership teams.

If it hadn’t been for uncertainty around his injury and how he may have recovered from it I think at least 2 or 3 would have been in.
We took the gamble and for once for us, it looks like it’ll pay off significantly.
If we don’t go up, I think we’ll have more trouble hanging onto him than anyone else.

To add a different dimension to the topic, what an excellent example for Faxon to learn alongside.

Unflappable and calm. Makes excellent decisions. He’ll be a great role model for Faxon to aspire towards. I think we can see Davies has that additional experience but Faxon has a bright future as well.

It’s bordering on mental how calm he is as much as anything

Even Henderson had some crackers moments, nothing fazes Cooper it’s like he’s got cbd on a drip constantly 😂
He's not just calm, he's in control. Buddhist monk energy about him. Rises like a crisp packet in wind and just plucks the ball out of the air. Like the ball just wants to be with him.

There's definitely a whiff of Pork about some of the comments. 😄

He is fucking brilliant. Steal at whatever we paid for him, and may pay in future if he goes up. I was convinced his proud home record was going tonight when they got the pen, then he goes and saves it. Don't care if it was a poor pen, you've still got to go the right way and get the ball clear. The best since Alan Kelly, with the potential to go on and be even better.
Proper pants down stuff, he would have been a steal at £5m

I just spent about 5 minutes writing a reply to you asking if you were ok and if you needed someone to talk to...I then reread your post, understood it and can only agree and that I hope we recall grbic in the new year as cover as think he needs a mentor to learn from as he is miles off being ready.

His laid back calmness is a throwback to Simon Tracey

Surely some mistake having Beadle so near the bottom. We all know he is the next England keeper.

I know right, who would have thought future Ballon D'or winner Beadle would be letting in almost half the shots he faced.

Cooper = Fuckin Excellent
Tom Davies great story , but mom

Agreed. It's rare that a keeper would get MOTM when he's only made a couple of regulation saves apart from the penalty, but I think people realise the other contributions he makes like his positional sense, claiming the ball and unflappable focus. Must be great for our players knowing he's got their back.

The physical side of this game is a huge factor but the mental side of it I think doesn't get enough praise. I think Cooper's confidence and calm mentality helps the back line keep a somewhat cooler head (Anel aside) even losing Souttar last night didn't seem to cause any panic. I mean I know we were going back on level terms with players but he is a big loss.

The lad so far is refusing to concede, he's a fan favourite and he just saved a pen Infront of the kop to keep his record clean. His confidence must be through the roof right now. Wilder mentioning him in the same sentence as Hendo for me says a lot. Marvelous signing and the lad can go far if he carries on.

This guy is the real deal. Didn't see the game last night as I was at a gig. On Tuesday I was in the BLUT behind the goal. He didn't have much to do but I was serioiusly impressed. He always looks so calm and assured with the ball is at his feet even when the opposition are trying to press him and cut out a pass to a defender. He makes the rght decisions with crosses every time. Just quietly comes to catch or punch the ball with no fuss at all. He made one really good save too when United had declared at 3 - 0. What a piece of transfer business this was and what a contrast to Grbic!!
