Cooper by a country mile…Trafford doesn’t have to play behind such a flaky defence.

Cooper is comfortably better than Wes.
Bear in mind also that we didn’t have any of the three you’ve mentioned when we actually signed Cooper and it becomes much more than just a ‘decent signing’ - it was an essential signing that massively improved our defence and in my opinion is the reason we are (just about) in the automatic promotion race at all.

I’ll defened wes, some of his shot stopping was very good. He pulled off some unbelievable saves at times. He had a mistake in him but we’ve seen that with cooper as well. He faced considerably more shots at goal from threatening situations than other GKs in the prem. He did well considering the volume and much higher quality. he wasn’t a bad keeper at all we just had an awful defence and crap negative system.

I would agree that cooper is my preference. But my point is that i think the quality of our keepers recently has been high apart from the guy from atletico.

Exactly this, until Cooper improves his footwork I can't see a move to a prem side.

Leeds might be a destination for him, but he's young enough that I think someone bigger will take a punt.

Such a lazy thing to criticise a keeper for is their distribution. I remember plenty criticising Henderson for it. Both have always been completely fine.

Trafford has centre halves infinitely better than ones that conceded 104 goals in a 38 game season. If it was still a three of Wes/Garbage - Anel - Robinson we’d be comfortably mid table. Still believe those two should’ve been instantly transfer listed just like Grbic was.

Regards distribution, Cooper is the best we’ve ever had.

It’s made a big difference, when pressed, our defenders are now able to pass it back to the keeper and Cooper is so calm able to pass it or clear it with both his left foot and right foot. How often do you see a keeper who is 2 footed?

If Coopers distribution is woeful, then as it’s 10 times better than Wes, is there a word in the English dictionary to describe Wes’s distribution?

Coopers long distribution isn’t great though. Its a big part of a keepers game, especially the way we play. He regularly kicks it out of play or doesn’t find a man. If he improves on that he’s a very good keeper. At the moment we still have a good keeper, good shot stopper and commanding it’s just a part of his game that's weaker.
