Contacted concerning sale of the club

Just been contacted by someone on the phone suggesting a club takeover was in the offing. How he got my phone number I don't know and being a shareholder and all that (I have one share lol) I thought it was some scam so didn't take too much notice what was being said so hung up. Anyone else been contacted? And how do they get your number I now live in Hull (the city of culture )

To be honest I was expecting another call so it threw me at first also the guy was foreign so none too clear. He then mentioned sufc, again I'm thinking he trying to sell me tote tickets (again). But he then started going on about a consortium takeover. Must admit I thought it was a scam of some sort and still do so just hung up. I just wondered if anyone else had been contacted. No more than that.

Not going to defend myself. OK I am, this was a genuine call as I say I think it was bullshit what he was saying, my only reason for posting was how he had got my name and number.
Definitely not pork have been following the blades for over 55years. Not bad for someone who used to live on the cross (parsons).

Just looked but phone says no number. But thought at the time it did display one. However my phone normally blocks withheld numbers so not sure now.

Doubt the poster is making this up. From time to time the club put out statements saying scammers are claiming take over bids on the phone to shareholders. Contact the club so they are aware of this nonsense happening again

Yet another shares scam one would assume. I had one a few months ago, talked a similar bullshit story. Trying to get me to buy shares as they'll get more value once the takeover is complete. Needless to say, I wasn't so polite when telling them to leave me alone.

I also had a call from a man in Hong Kong who said someone who was worth 2 million US Dollars had died and I was the closest relative.

All I had to do was give them my bank details and debit card PIN number and they would transfer me the money.

Thanks for a few posts of support and humour ( you have to know Hull to get the fern book comment) The reason I posted this was for the scam possibility as I explained then expanded on after posts of pork. But sadly that's not good enough as you get further abuse from some quarters and others liking their stupid comments. Anyhow it's up to you whether you believe me or not. But it was a genuine post.

The thrust of my comment was how did the caller get my details i.e. phone number and the fact I had 1 share in the club (this was a birthday present ) who is releasing/selling these details. My previous contact with the club was I got a phone call some years back from a lady who talked with a scouse accent who then said I had to answer some security question before she continued I pointed out she had rang me and I wouldn't be answering any questions anyhow she wanted me to buy tote tickets or something like that for club development. .

Yes went Thursday night. Victoria Square very good not so sure about the others. I think the steptoes yard exhibit or whatever it's called must have been recorded at the lane. I don't think they get that many at the KCOMM.

Limited companies have to keep a shareholder register, can't remember if it has to include addresses, but if they have got hold of a copy of this with addresses and if you are not ex directory its not hard to find your number on the web. I run a limited company and have to submit an annual return which lists all shareholders but not their addresses which any member of the public can see by going onto the companies house web site.
Sounds like a scam to me.
