It's a possibility, but then again so is Caolan Lavery scoring goals suddenly, so is Ched coming back and scoring 20.

A lot of things are 'possible' in football but they also happen to be unlikely.

You honestly think the possibility of Ched returning and scoring 20 or Lavery transforming into a world-beater are comparable to the likelihood of Washington being a good player for us?

Well it's just as well you're not a manager or head of recruitment then.

So in your opinion you actually think Lavery is a better player? All I can say in response to that is thank God your opinion doesn't count for anything.
No, I think Lavery is shit. Washington probably is better than him to be honest.

But measure them yourself, it's statted all the way down to aerial duels etc at Championship level...

You said scoring goals... not being a good player.
And in Ched's case to be honest I don't know what to expect.

I wouldn't have minded us signing Washington back in his Peterborough days.

I think QPR have been playing him more out on left side every time I have seen him play. Usually looked a threat but seems to be lacking confidence in front of goal at the moment.

Why is it not possible? Money yes, but with Washington being a free transfer it allows us 2 more loans if we can afford it.

You’ve kind of answered your own question. Money- if we can afford it.

Hey; if Wilder can work his magic and somehow get all 3 in, then fantastic. I hope your right. The Washington free transfer thing is news to me, and would probably help.

Upgrade on Lavery for £0 - works for me.

Not every signing is going to be "the one" that fires us to promotion - it's a squad game and we need another body up front.

Yep, completely agree. The idea that Lavery is the better player is bonkers.

We might not be bringing in the 'marquee' Scott Hogan type but in McGoldrick and Washington, we've improved our options with two different types of strikers, who both have solid experience at this level. Oh...and without spending a penny.

Were they really Pinchy, can you provide me some proof of that please?

I waste enough time on your malicious anti-Blade drivel, Johnny, so you’ll have to look for yourself.

Sorry your day has been spoiled already but it’s only a minor amendment to the script so far. Pele forbid the Agenda should be dislodged.

For free is it worth a punt? Yes.

Am I very disappointed after all the noise we've made about signing a proven championship striker all summer? Bids on the table for Waghorn, Hogan, Gallagher, to end up with Washington? Yes I am. He is an improvement on Lavery but not much else imho.

Ok pinchdog - I'll take it as you can't prove it. Enough said.

Not the hold the back page signing we hoped for but on a free feels a low risk option. If it doesn’t work out we should be able to sell on for a fee so not much to lose and yes I know we page him a wage before anyone points that out

It's 6 years condensed down into 2 minutes. You could make Jonathan Forte and Dean Hammond look like Van Basten and Luka Modric using this method. I'm not knocking him before he's kicked a ball for us but highlights reels are notoriously misleading.
Agreed, hence 'Based on those goals'.

Great free signing if true ,be happy with him and mcgoldrick as back up to clarke and sharpe with hopefully one other and woodburn too

Hopefully wilder can t.l.c him back to form

Why have you spelt lose correctly?
Who the fuck do you think you are?

I was pointing out his stats at Championship level are better in terms of GPG, playing devil's advocate tbf. He's obviously a better player than Lavery.

Has the window shut, Johnny?

#thickasapigandonamission.

On paper, I'd leave him where he is and go for the strengthening the team as a whole option in preference.

But Tufty seems to be able to improve players, so we'll have to wait and see.

Carlos reckons that a PL team bid £10 mil for Adam reach ... and the S6 club turned it down.

There, I knew that'd cheer you up.
Carlos’s English isn’t good. Someone offered him a tenner for a reach round.

You said scoring goals... not being a good player.

No I didn't.

Even if I did, surely the objective signing anyone is for them to be a good player and make positive influence on the team?

If we signed him and he didn't score a single goal, but he had enough of a positive impact on the team/results for him to be regarded as a "good player", then it would be a complete success.

He’s grieving, overwhelmed by sadness. Give him some space.

Erm... he is literally Caolan Lavery with a bit less hair.

We’ve let relegation threatened QPR sign Hemed and Wells and signed their fifth choice striker instead.

Is this a fucking joke?

You really need to make your mind up. Yesterday it was anybody. Today your in full flounce mode because it’s not one of the 4 players you wanted. For what it’s worth I’m not overly inspired but it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve all been proven wrong

You did say: "You've assumed that just because his goal record is poor at QPR, that "he just doesn't score goals at this level." - plenty of players struggle at one club, and blossom at others, and you seem to be flat-out ignoring that possibility."

So if you didn't mean he could score goals for us - fair enough.

And I do understand your point, but if he is our only signing surely it goes against what we've said all summer with our transfer policy.

Good player for Peterbrough, always looked dangerous for QPR.

Anyone over Lavery in fairness, I've decided that now.

Still very underwhelming. I'd even prefer Jerome.

Good signing if we can get him on a free (hands off now Millwall!). I’d judge him on how he plays for us not QPR as they have been terrible for years under different managers.

Maybe an indication of how much wages Schteeeeve has spunked on wells and Hemed to give away a £3m player.

If we're going to be picky about what we each said, then I'd point out that you originally said that he's the same as Lavery, but with less hair and now you're saying he's "obviously better"

My point wasn't that he will improve his goal record, if you read it either: I intimated the possibility that he could potentially "blossom" - that could mean score more goals, it could just make a positive impact on the team.

What did Wilder say exactly? (Not a trick question; I'm just not sure what you're reffering to)

Looks like plan z this one, although I do think that this is failsafe and we’re still in for the others.
