CONFIRMED Conor Washington

He's hardworking and powerful. Can run with the ball. More direct than our other strikers. Can do a job in wide areas.

Very much a confidence player I think. He was ripping L1 a new one, Ched 2012 style, before QPR signed him. Making his own chances and scoring from all angles.

Definitely needs a new start and could start scoring again in the right team and right manager, in which case he'd be a real bargain.

He's in the last year of his contract too so I'd imagine this one is likely to become permanent, because if it was just purely a season loan they'd be agreeing to let us run his contract down before losing him for nothing.

I'm happy for it to become permanent because he's only 26 and would at least be a good squad player.

BREAKING NEWS

Sheffield United are closing in on a loan deal with QPR for striker Conor Washington.

The Northern Ireland international has entered the final year of his contract at Loftus Road having scored 13 league goals in 88 games for the West London club.

Millwall are also understood to be keen on signing the frontman.

Seems as though it is just a loan, no view to permanent.

I have the feeling he’ll stay down south

Used to be a postman when he played for St Ives, let`s hope he delivers.

Called this one weeks ago didn’t you Treeton Blade ?

Disappointing signing really. Not sure he’ll push Sharp. Never really delivered at this level and if he can’t get in at QPR, then he certainly won’t get in here.

Bit disappointing really that we weren’t in for Hemed, or Wells. Are we miles behind QPR in terms of what we can offer?

Could this just be a case of increasing the options for the forward line, should a deal for Hogan or Fletcher (or other) not get over the line by the deadline?

Good player and the type of player we need, id be happy with that. let the QPR fans have their opinions, but end of the day, it will be Washington contending the play offs as they fight of Relegation with McClaren and his hair island

The whole point of this striker was not to be a squad player, instead to be a first 11 player and a difference maker, if not the main striker. Or am I missing something? There is literally no point to this, may as well just keep lavery.

He's pretty quick with a good long range shot on him. A bit underwhelming to be honest.

Fuck it, I'm going to stick my neck out and say this will be a good signing.

Could see him teaming up well with Billy, he offers us something slightly different and he's 26, so just entering his prime.

I'd also say he's capable of pairing up with any of our other strikers.

Erm... he is literally Caolan Lavery with a bit less hair.

We’ve let relegation threatened QPR sign Hemed and Wells and signed their fifth choice striker instead.

Is this a fucking joke?

Why so dramatic? He's admittedly not as good as Hemed and Wells, but it should be obvious we can't afford them.

He's far better tham Lavery and more importantly, he's a different sort of player. I'd also say he's far better than K Moore as well.

I know. But personally I'd given up on that. It's a piss poor situation. But we're in a position where we simply need a body in, and as far as 'additions to the strikeforce' go, he's not a bad one.

I'd prefer him to most of the other names I had in mind for the barrel scraping addition.

Totally underwhelmed.
He seems to be an average championship squad filler, who neither over nor underwhelms me. Seldom have I felt so neutrally whelmed.

I suspect we may see this chap appearing in both the 'forgotten players who used to play for us' and 'name a shit show featuring ex Blades' threads in a couple of years time.

You are familiar with this place on transfer deadline day right?

Thoughts? Does he fit the bill?
I'm sure he'll grow into it...
