Sammon scores tonight in the Europa League for Hearts, sign him up! They did lose 2-1 at home to Maltese side Birkirkara.

:):):)

Good that the footy has started again. Personally I'd fancy a concrete bollard on the penalty spot to get more goals than Sammon, just from random deflections off it.

It'd be tricky taking penalties mind but we could cross that bridge when we came to it. Also on the plus side the wages would be a lot less.

The concrete block would also have the aerial advantage.

Apparently there are just three teams in the Maltese league. And Salmon now plays in a side that can't even beat one of them. Has he finally found his level?

Malta's smaller than Sheffield, geographically and in terms of population. And having been there a couple of times, I'd guess it's too bloody hot to play football for a lot of the year. So it's really impressive that Scottish football manages to be this bad.

Scotland must have the most embarrassing league in the world.

Celtic lost in Gibraltar last week. Didn't even know Gibraltar had a team let alone a league that qualifies for champions league qualifiers!

If you get chance, hop on 'Jambos Kickback' and read the Connor Sammon thread (goes back a while but the best comments begin from last night).

Lovely stuff. Poor bastards!

Don't know if they've built their national stadium yet, Gibraltar have to play their home games in the Algarve (to be fair it's a nice stadium).

Before we get carried away laughing at Scottish teams losing to Maltese teams, let's not forget that our own country failed to beat a nation the size of Leicester recently!

I think they do have one now, it's right next to the motorway/airport runway - and by that I mean those are both the same thing. Weird, weird place.

Think that's the old one, new one going down at Europa point

What a fucking joke of a player.

Retirement beckons. But probably only after he's tried his luck in the Irish league and stunk that one out as well.

He has been there and scored 15 goals in 16 games for Derry City somehow.

He was also at UCD , scoring 13 goals in almost 70 appearances , and when Trappatoni was manager of Ireland , came on quite regular as a second half sub , he was fucking gash though .
Wigan payed 600k for him and Derby over a million , and I did say when we had him on lone he was shite .

Pfffft ... we just wanted an invite to the piss up that decided to sign him

Just how pissed do you fuckers get ??

I also think Connor wasn't our greatest piece of business, but the kind of animosity he gets does seem to be a bit much. I'm sure he didn't mean to be that crap. :(

He probably had one really good game for us early season, and a couple of decent ones thereafter. Otherwise, his performances descended to a level where youth prospects got picked in front of him. Add to that his remarkable capacity to miss the unmissable, and you've got a sorry record.

But I reckon the fact that he looked like a middleweight but punched like a flyweight made people think he wasn't a trying. And they might have been right - only he knows.
