For me, he can't play the Fleck Role. He has zero defensive attributes and whilst we malign Fleck I think we'd be in for a shock is Freeman or Hourihane played there. I can see him maybe fitting into a Duffy role.

One of the confusing aspects for me is I don't know how we're going to play. 3 or 4 at the back. Wide forwards, wingers of 5-3-2.

Can I ask what “the Fleck role” is?
Back when it was worth talking about it was aggressively winning the ball back up the pitch and looking to create chances. For the past 18 months it seems to have been more sit deep be incredibly safe yet still manage to turnover possession and create nothing. We don’t need anyone to replace that latter role and Fleck isn’t seemingly capable current of delivering the former.
 
That’s 3 out of 6 if you include guedioura. 2 wingers/attacking mids and a keeper now prince. New contract for ndiaye can count as one of the attacking mids

He wasn’t poor when he first joined Swansea, far from it

Exactly. That left side looks a lot stronger with davies, RND and hourihane. The academy coaches were saying Ndiaye is far better than brooks was aswell so could already have our £10m attacker at the club

Hourihane seems to have good amount of assists as well, so maybe he can deliver few for our strikers

just the centre MF now. Strong, fast, Box to box, energy, creative and loves a tackle…..too much to ask for???
 
Sorry if already said but also into last year of contract at villa so that opens up some options next season

Ndiaye was 21 in March and has played 11 minutes of League football. Brooks was tearing teams apart at 20 and was sold for £11.5m around his 21st birthday.

You are Aware of ndiayes contact situation ? None of your statement changes the fact that uniteds academy set up think he's a better prospect

Not a dig at you but this is the sort of thing i always here with our young players:
If he’s a striker- could be the next slew
Midfielder- could be the next De Girolamo
Defender: could be the next kennedy

So I keep reading on here from different posters but I missed that statement from the Academy. Which Academy coach told you that?
 
The crucial thing also is if we get the players in (4 at least) Slav will stay. This will be a consolidation season in my view, hope I’m wrong. I don’t like wishing time away but the proper clear out that is coming will be a joy to behold.

Diego was ridiculous at academy level though seriously ridiculous. It’s a fair comparison really Diego, ndiaye and brooks all play that sort of hybrid role of winger/central attacking player. It’s great to hear that ndiaye is highly rated I really hope he is as advertised but from what I’ve seen of him he’s not done the things at junior level that brooks did and certainly not that Diego did.

That said he did look good for the 23’s and junior football isn’t a direct translation to the senior game so there’s every chance he could be a better senior player than brooks and Diego. At this point he was the best of the academy players last year and plays in a position of need he should be in and around the first team.
