Congrats K Freeman

I used that SkyBet 'Request a Bet' feature about two months ago to see if I could get odds on Freeman to get into double figures for the season

They never got back to me.

Wonder why...

Although agreed with the complete clean out after last season I was disappointed to see both Freeman and Coutts on the list - I'd seen enough to think they had something about them to at least be good squad players and at that time I had no idea who would be brought in to bolster the wafer thin squad.
Didn't expect the complete turnaround but glad they got a chance and both have been excellent .. long may it continue.

10 goals from WB is something special, you have been a star when many thought you were on the way out. No way is Brayford taking your shirt pal, same again next season.
Loving his contribution. Hope he carries on next season and this doesn't turn out to be his Michael Brown season. Sure it won't.

I said to The One and silverfox very early this season that he'd bag plenty this season, even when we weren't clicking and struggling he was getting into some great positions. Happy to have been proven more than right! :D
We're all happy you have been proved right. Since when he first came in he looked a great attacking option. He always looks good as a right side midfielder when the formation is different and he plays there. His passes this season have been as good as any midfield man but rarely gets noticed when played from his deeper area.
As for the positions in the box, Folk just have to look at the winning goal against Peterborough to see it is no fluke. If Sharpe doesn't score whose right behind him ready for the pieces. (No harm in posting that great video again in this thread. One of your best).

Also did anyone else think we should have had a penalty when Freeman went down the line and as far as I could see was clipped so should have been a pen but instead the clown ref booked him

He didn't book him.

We sit behind that goal and to be honest I though he was looking to go down. He'd already done the hard work by getting past the first man and he should have got a cross in. Maybe he was knackered and 'felt contact', but it was poor judgement.

Having said that, he has had a great season and I'm amazed he is not in the League 1 team of the year. Has anyone seen a better right back?

Top lad and full credit to him for knuckling down after being told he was on the list.

A revelation and a star. Well done Kieran, lad.
It is O not A in his name. You know that round letter a bit like a ball. It's a round thing our team is doing spectacular things with. So just to recap O and not A but I can see why you used A. It's because it's like a cone and we all know you love your static cones so much.

Most improved player of the season award...

Freeman or Coutts?

Would have not been bothered if they both had been jettisoned last summer, now amongst our most important players,

Kudos Chris Wilder
That's not even a contest. A bloke playing in midfield had two league goals one of which was a penalty that covers semi circle to semi circle and a bloke who defends, attacks, tackles, challenges for headers and plays some great passes all box to box.
Why do you want to put more pressure on Coutts. Just let him get on with the simple thing he does well. If he's good enough for CW then that's fine.

Indeed congratuations to Freeman - turned his career around considering where he was at the start of the season (or before that, on loan at Mansfied). Really kicked on this season.

The likes of McNulty and even Baxter should look at Freeman as an example of how you can turn things around, if you work hard and keep focussed.

Fine goal too. Like Eden Hazard on the turn. :)
I'm not sure enough has been made of just how good his goal was the other night. I've just watched it again, his body position to receive the ball is perfect, he's already on the turn when he controls it, applies just enough to the ball to slow it down and allow it to move across his body, leaving him in the perfect position to find the only gap available to him into the bottom corner, which he does like a seasoned striker.

The anticipation of Jake Wright, the skill of Mark Duffy and the finishing of Billy Sharp all in 1 glorious second. Nice.

The defender should have got tighter, but still... Anyone who's kicked a ball knows what a great piece of skill that was.

The Wilder Effect!

To be fair, it was Clough who introduced KF as sub in the Carlisle home game on March 12th, 2013. After that, he was an ever-present till the end of the season. Even Clough and the lamentable Adkins could see there was a good player in there but, as with several other players, it took CW/AK to bring out the best in him.
A legend of Booker-esque proportions is in the making. Full marks to the guy. When he was being left out for inferior players, he didn't go looking for another club.
Top man, Kieran. We know a good 'un at the Lane.

probably the most improved player at the Lane , just edging out Coutts due to his goals
it shows what game time and belief gives a player, and as he points out having that bit of quality around you makes all the difference

I also think if people dropped their hatred of George Long hed be the same , he got a bad reputation in a poor team , bereft of belief that let him down

In light of the interview with JOC calling him "Kez" is there any kind of chant along the lines of "Come on Kez" we can use??

I cant stop thinking about the film Kez everytime I see him now.
