He played on loan for one game Wendy in 1997-98!that's that then, good luck Nige - i think you're gonna need it.
at least he's English and no pig connections.
Did I miss something?![]()

It was just one game on loan I think...
I'll judge him on results - good luck to him (and us)
UTB
Give the man his due, he doesn't look at all happy wearing that shirt, does he?![]()
Reasons for my support of Clough?
I would suggest he has the clout to get players who wouldn't have signed under certain other managers we could have picked to at least talk to us.
- He is a big enough name to get better players to look at us with our supposed wads of money
- But not so big it will be a Robson type affair
- His abilities in continually improving teams can be seen in his stable if unspectacular track record
- He has experience but not so much he can be deemed at the end of his career
- He will mix up style rather than just stick to hoof or playing on the deck for the sake of it
Someone else has said elsewhere it could be a good appointment or it could be a shocker. I think most of us were pleased with the appointment of Weir but certainly not with the outcome. Football makes idiots of all of us at some time or other. Best give the bloke a chance and lets get ourselves out from the foot of the table and at least getting some stability mid table. If we can get back into a mid table position come Christmas then the play offs are a possibility. Obviously this depends on a good transfer window and the money being realised in players in rather than fish tanks in the board room.
Fingers crossed eh? Its about all we can control as fans.
A huge welcome to Mr Clough! Long may he reign at United. I'm actually pretty pleased now he's finally here.
Lets just hope to god, Allah and all the rest that he gets some results and he sees out his contract. That's the spirit Swiss![]()
Who was the SWFC manager that was a player in SUFC books? He never played for the 1st teamBy my reckoning Clough is the 4th ex SWFC player to manage us - Davison, Porterfield and Wilson are the others.

Watched the interviews with him and he speaks really well. No big statements other than we basically need to get out of the shite.
I'm easily pleased, he got me with "this is a proper football club"
Now, first job, rip up Kings contract, start laying down the ground rules for the players and get these fuckers fit
Correct!Howard Wilkinson

By the sound of it Sheff Utd have got more money to spend than Derby
McCabe has paid off the debts so that Prince Abdullah could become the joint owner of the club but it is unclear how much we can spend in the JTW due to the FFP rules
Thanks for explaining, hope Clough will be like his dad when it comes to finding young players who have CHARACTERIf I understand the rules properly we can spend as much as we like on anyone under the age of 21 and coaching staff. If we want to invest in a player over 21 we have to put in 33% extra. So we would have to put in £1m to pay for a player bought at £650k.
Over to you Price Abdullah!
Thanks for explaining, hope Clough will be like his dad when it comes to finding young players who have CHARACTER
I am hoping he knows some good youngsters at Derby. Derby might be willing to let a few go to finance McClaren.
Just think, a small amount of some SUFC fan's money ended up in Howard Wilkinson's back pocket. What a sobering thought!Correct!
Sorry, Edison Arantes do Nascimento. You'll have to give way for a while.
I'm welcoming Nigel.[/quote
Edison?!.. for goodness sake Pinchy, I had you down as one of the good guys![]()
