I was just having a look at their forum and some of the fans are bemoaning the conveyor belts of strikers to have left them in the last few years. One name jumped out, a certain A Stokes

'Luckily' we're playing a level lower now than when Stokes was here so if we sign Taylor he may find it easier to make the step up.

Ironically, a few of the people on Twitter excited about this transfer have said that Porter's goals in pre-season should be disregarded because it's only against Scottish First Division sides...

He was banging them in at Conference level too, which is of a similar standard. However he never managed to score for Bournemouth!

It wasn't pre-season, it was in October. I know, I was there and never got anywhere near the stick that J..... sorry, fleety did :)

Frighteningly, it's also coming up to 8 years ago.....

Indeed, and as it was ultimately a promotion season, maybe the club should pretend to go back again this year :)

I'll be interested to see how he gets on, I think there's better options available for cheaper personally but he seemed to do well at Falkirk so he might bring his momentum down here too.

Who did you have in mind, Daz?

Strong sources in the media world have stated that Falkirk have accepted our bid, Taylor has agreed terms with the club and this evening undertook a medical at the club.

Sources at Falkirk say that the club wanted £250,000 for the player, United matched Rotherhams bid however we offered the player a better contract and terms.

The deal itself is supposedly done and United will unveil the new player tomorrow.

On the other hand David Weir has again supposedly offered Cresswell to the market and several clubs are interested after deeming the player surplus to requirements.

I tweeted earlier that I'd seen Simon Church was still available on a free and I thought he could be a good, realistic target for us.

That's all well and good, but is he Scottish, or Scottish-sounding, or has he played in Scotland, or come from a random Scottish-sounding country? Welsh international Simon Church, plying his trade in England? Never stood a chance.

We actually offered him the chance to play for United rather than Rotherham. That was enough.

A good bit of business by Weir.

He will also be on less wages than Cressy surely?

Couple of the lads at work went to the Falkirk v Hibs semi-final. They remembered Taylor straight away when I asked about him, mainly because he missed two great chances! One at 3-0 up and one at 3-3 I think.

However, they did say everyone felt sorry for him for missing the chances rather than blaming him as he'd had such a good game. They said he played up front on his own, led the line really well and caused loads of problems for the Hibs defenders.

I'm guessing that 29 goals this season means it was just an off day in terms of the finishing?

Can't just be me that thinks that £250k = snag and fallen through in the same sentence

If it does then its all your fault. Just like Im not going to B&Q to buy a fan just because when I do you can bet that the weather will change. :)

Difficult to tell Coops, if he was getting 3 or 4 chances a game, you'd be disappointed if any half-decent striker didn't bag 29 goals in the Scottish 1st Division. Reading their forum, it seems as though he's not the type of player to create his own chances out of nothing so it will probably be our usual issue, creating chances. Hopefully, getting Brandy and Murphy more involved in the right areas of the pitch will be the key and it does seem as though that's the plan from the pre-season games.

You'd like to think that the fact he was up here for a medical yesterday means that it's a near formality but this is SUFC..............................
