Very happy with this signing. Right, that's it for strikers and midfielders, get the bloody defence and keepers positions sorted now!

I can't recall Britton at all even though I must have seen him a few times! If he's as good as he is said to be [and the Swansea fans clearly think the world of him which says a lot] then I applaud this wholeheartedly and I feel a wave of optimism coming on.

The key question is whether Hoof can change the habit of a life time and allow his team to play proper football. I'll be amongst the first to cheer him if he can. If not, at least two of his new players will be redundant and he'll lose his job. It's clear that Birch is beginning to show his mettle and I've no doubt whatsoever that Blackie has been told to change the style of play. I really hope he can. Anyway, a big well done to all at BTDBL for acquiring a lad of a calibre that few thought we could. Here's to a few more. Come on lads, join the football party. This means you Messrs Simonsen, Surman, Nyatanga and Dickinson to name but four.

Woop! All we need now is to sign that Messi guy.

I'm stunned at this and have egg on my face as last week I said on another thread that we'd never be able to sign him.

Great signing, however I still have a lingerng feeling that he'll be another who will be better for other teams than he is for us.

Good coup and thus far I'm very impressed with the signings, certainly they are an improvement on last summers.

He showed at the end of the season, when he could play something approaching a settled side, that he can send out a team to play a bit of football. He also showed it when he first took over from Robson, and there wasn't really a great deal of pressure on him. I feel encouraged by the signings so far as well. Britton is a really good signing, especially as we have beaten Boro to him. Maybe things are going to be better than a lot of people thought.

You really can't help yourself, can you Pinchy? :D

Why is Blackwell signing Britton "clear that Birch is beginning to show his mettle"? I'm happy for you that you've convinced yourself that "Blackie has been told to change the style of play" but I certainly hope you're wrong. I thought we were playing really well once Blackwell managed to settle a side. And "Hoofball" (puke) is hardly the habit of Blackwell's lifetime - I think it would be fairer to say that winning games is more Blackwell's "habit of a lifetime" but that wouldn't fit in to your agenda, would it?

GOOD STUFF BLADES.add surman and simmonson to that, and we r looking better than last season.optimsm at last.
