17 GOALS last season exactly what I wanted, but not a replacement for K.M but better than any of our strikers
So you didn't want an attacking midfielder to replace Kevin McDonald... an attacking midfielder?

Sounds a good signing. We've basically done to Oldham what Wolves did to us, shows where we are in the pecking order...
I wonder if he'll play tomorrow, more likely a sub spot I suppose?

as far as blades transfers go the daily mail is the most reliable source by a distanceneeds to be confirmed by somewhere better than the daily fail for me, but im excited it sounds like its happened.
getting rid of higgo is also a great thing, still need a striker tho me thinks
I see the Manchester Evening News suggest we triggered a release clause 'in the region of £150,000'. Hard to stomach for a Latics fan if that's the amount.

Yet another club's fans join the list of Sheffield United haters.
This is very encouraging from DW2 and SUFC and it's also notable that we've put the cat among the pigeons at Coventry too with our approach for Callum Wilson.
This seems to bear out what Weir has regularly said. He's had a look at what we've got and gone to the board for some support for his plans.
I just wish our fickle fans will give him a chance to build and blend his type of team, instead of throwing the fuckin towel in after four games as some were over the weekend.
That was before he signed a League one proven goalscorer![]()

Well, maybe they can use some of the money to finish painting that roof on the home stand.
HH
Didn't think they were throwing in the towel. More like if nothing is done we are more liklely to leave this League in a downwards rather than upwards direction.
Conviction to those who say "there is a problem please sort it out" rather than "its ok give it time, zzzz, early days" and before you know where you are its hello welcome to League 2.
It is called being prepared. Looks like Weir and the Board have agreed to address it. Yipee.
The next stage is will it work? Unlike some who thought Murphy was the next best thing to Kenny Dalgliesh let's wait and see what happens before assuming we'll be promoted, or the decline is arrested. Baxter may be the next Gary Linneker, he may be the next Gary Brazil. We'll see (and hope).
I only hope arrivals are not balanced against more key departures, now that would be a surprise wouldn't it?
Oldham fan here. Congratulations on the signing of Baxter, you've got yourselves one of the best players in the league. He could easily play in the championship, and although playing for you is a step up, I honestly thought that's where he would be headed. Although he does gave a far bigger chance of championship football with you then he did with us.
Jose could of left us in January for free, and if he did we'd have almost certainly got relegated, he chose to sign a 2 and a half year contract so for that he'll always be held in high regard by us Oldham fans. I'm not stupid enough to believe we won't miss his talent, but our squad is in far better shape then last season and i think we'll have enough to manage without him.
His best position is playing just behind the striker imo, and i reckon he'll net you between 15-20 goals a season. Best of luck to you and he'll always get a warm reception when our sides meet. Unlike that other ex Oldham tosser Porter you have playing for you.

Whens your next positive thinking Seminar I want 4 tickets
Did he turn down a contract extension at Everton?
Bloody good job you're not in charge then! You'd hang a man before he's proven guilty. As I said the other day, give Weir et al a chance.

Jose Baxter more of a striker to me

Yeah... You kind of blamed the manager...and the players, but mostly the manager... After less than 10 gamesHey I didn't want him sacked I just said if this doesn't work then we should never try a untried manager, and most of the players are fine.
