Delighted with this. Good player with potential to improve further. Great signing, well done Mr Weir.

needs to be confirmed by somewhere better than the daily fail for me, but im excited it sounds like its happened.
getting rid of higgo is also a great thing, still need a striker tho me thinks

Check the thread title ;)

Well i am shocked if this is true the latics fans tonight are fuming and upset over this he was a key player for them. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-sign-Sheffield-United.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

Yet another club's fans join the list of Sheffield United haters. ;)

This is very encouraging from DW2 and SUFC and it's also notable that we've put the cat among the pigeons at Coventry too with our approach for Callum Wilson.

This seems to bear out what Weir has regularly said. He's had a look at what we've got and gone to the board for some support for his plans.

I just wish our fickle fans will give him a chance to build and blend his type of team, instead of throwing the fuckin towel in after four games as some were over the weekend.

Can't you say something positive for once?

I know right? He's like a black hole of misery.

I like this by the way 'Everton’s youngest-ever player Jose Baxter - once tipped to take the same path to success as Wayne Rooney - is being given another chance of the big time with Sheffield United.'

Well chuffed with this one. Let's hope he lasts a bit longer than the last Baxter we had though....

17 GOALS last season exactly what I wanted, but not a replacement for K.M but better than any of our strikers

Well mattbianco1 , I would like to do something not many on here have the decorum to do and admit I was wrong. In the Luke freeman thread I scoffed because you were confident we would sign somebody decent to replace McDonald. Whilst Baxter isn't the same sort of player as McDonald and I think the two would have worked well in the same team, I am extremely happy that, for once, we appear to have signed somebody who is not a massive step down from their predecessor, and may actually turn out to be better for us.

As I said back in the So What shitty loan signing thread, he is just the player I wanted us to get. I'm very pleased and hope we can actually try to build on this potentially great signing.

Do I get to claim an "I told you so"?

This had been on the cards since KM went. Good moves Blades btw and good to see a clause work in our favour.

The club have a top player on their hands.

Truley shocked. Not been this chuffed by a signing since Brian Howard or maybe Leon Britton...........hold on.

Seems highly rated having had a read of the Oldham forums.

As an aside, why do they hate us so much? Seems an odd one

Fair play to the club on this signing. I was convinced we would not reinvest the McDonald money and am more than happy to be proved wrong. It is a long time since we had a goal threat from midfield and given the style DW is trying to play this is exactly the type of player we need.

Theres got to be a downside to this signing as we hvae actually paid money for him (and Taylor)
Its nice to see Higginbotham out of the door whoever signed him on a permanent deal ought to follow him if he already hasnt. With that move outwards does that mean we will be keeping hold of Maguire ?

Well fuck me, that's a good signing for this division. Well done United.

Has he got any court cases booked for early next year?

Hope his bird can deal with his extra travel

Didn't you want Weir sacked? ;)

For me this more than eclipses the sale of KMac's one trick pony show. This lad has proven he can score goals in a shite side, so he'll fit in well at the lane.

Champers on dxb-nar will taste a little sweeter today

That was before he signed a League one proven goalscorer :p

The signing of a young and promising goal-scoring creative central midfielder.

First time we've been able to say that since Michael Brown signed nearly 14 years ago...

It's all gone too well these last few hours - he'll end up doing his cruciate in by the end of September.......

On paper looks a good signing and a great bit of business by the club.

Wonder if the player/agent insisted on a £750,000 trigger in his contract?

Still good business?
