No comment until Feb 1st.

When we have a full picture we can properly assess our prospects.

Until then it's all speculation and wasted energy and emotion.

I spoke to a workmate today who has been of the opinion for a long time that league 2 beckons, at the end of the next 2 years or so. And the club is treating us like mugs and is sorely mismanaged.
I thought after relegation from the Championship the most likely route out of L1 was through the trap door. Club appears to lack direction and motivation from the top down - seems clear (to me) that McCabe thought he could use his association with SUFC to further his wider business interests (nothing wrong with that in principle). When he twigged that no-one else gives a shit about English clubs apart from the chosen 4 or 5 (and the World Cup debacle - England were never going to get it anyway so I don't know why he got a monk on about it) he has lost interest, which is bizarre because the chances of him getting anyone to give him a wedge to invest/take over is diminishing all the time with his growing apathy.

if i were a bookie pricing it up, id say for the 2016-2017 season, the odds for us being in these division are about:

premiership 50/1
championship 10/1
league one 2/1
league two evens
conference 5/1
lower than that, ie as a new club 10/1

the way were heading, mccabe is going to be left either getting out by selling for a pittance and accepting he will lose a fortune. or the club going into administration, and a rotherham type scenario of him holding new owners to ransom on the ground. it really is that bad. if he's a blade, i'd hate to think what a mess we'd be in if he wasnt!

You seriously think we'll get relegated?! Off the back of an unconfirmed rumour that an overrated player is going?! Surely time to give up now mate I think!

If you keep selling everything that threatens to be any good, then you'll continue to slide. We've done it before, and it was more unthinkable then.

I have defended sale after sale by the club. This one's different. With it goes the hope that the club has any ambition to build anything. I've always appreciated that everyone has his price, and that sales are inevitable. I thought we'd now be in a stable enough position to make planned sales - which wouldn't include selling your top scorer after 5 months, just after losing what appears to be your best striker for a year.

Get ready for the inevitable "undisclosed fee", to hide the harsh reality that we've practically given him away.

They can sign who they like now, because our intentions are clear. I view the situation in a whole new light now, and it's not a good one sadly.

UTB

were in terminal decline. every year we let our better players go, and dont replace them. if the season started right now, i'd say we'd possibly be in a relegation battle already with the squad we have. if we keep on this path, next season we won't be in with any vague promotion chances so crowds will drop dramatically. if our squad is getting worse all the time with the crowds we get now, what sort of squad will we have when 5,000 people stop going? in 2 or 3 years why wouldnt we be relegated? nobody thought we would end up in league one, but it happened. and pretty bloody quickly too.

Well if that's the stick, sign me up for a right beating because I wouldn't mind a couple of grand a week!
And what happens when you find out someone wants to give you a bigger carrot, at a higher table, with the chance of some gravy on the side? Maybe served with some lovely roast potatoes, Yorky pud, and a slice of cow too?

Do you settle for plain carrot?

@JamesShield1: McCabe also insisted that no deal has been struck between #sufc and Crystal Palace for Nick Blackman. #twitterblades
Looks like he's off then!!!

If SUFC want to do a deal why don't they do the same as Man U. Yeah you can go, but we'll loan you back until the end of the season!

Just listened to Mcabe on the radio he says no deal has been struck with Palace for Blackman and Sheffield United are not in the business of selling key players at this stage of the season.

He also sends his regards to Mic and Metal for their support on this blog

The only thing is how can you agree a deal if you are not selling? (SSN)

Seller: "£2700",
Prospective Buyer: "Na not worth that, £2300".
Seller: "£2600"
Prospective buyer: "No too much, £2500 and the money now"
Prospective seller (SUFC): "Done.. but we're not selling"
Prospective buyer "I'll just tell everyone we've done a deal. Great business"
SUFC: OK (but come back Thursday at 6pm)

McCabe has spoken on the matter?

Then that means the player is certainly going. :)

He also said he is looking to strengthen by bringing in a few players irrespective of whether Blackman stays or goes (which says to me that a offer has been accepted and it is up to the player ) Ten minutes later radio pig also interviewed Wilson who stated he cannot bring anyone in until someone leaves. Does anyone still believe a word that McCabe or Wilson say when they can't even sing from the same hymn sheet.

has he ever said a player "hasn't been sold", and he ended up actually staying? or will this be the first time?

biggest club in the division.
best squad in the division.
ambitious club.

mccabe's spin doctors must be on more money than our entire first team!

i wonder if getting rid of blackman, porter and philliskirk will enable us to get that gallagher back on loan?? or will we still be up to the whatever the hell it is 60% salary cap under a different name gubbins?

maguire should be packing all his things away into boxes, only 5 days left til we sell him. we always sell someone 5 seconds before the window closes, and weve got bugger all else anybody would want!

anybody really care anymore? i think next season i may take up golf or summat. ive had enough of this bollocks. funny thing is, theres still people out there who think were one of the favourites for promotion! you couldnt make it up!
I gave up for good at the hartlepool game, i only attend sheffield fc games now and no it will not change.

i always get worried when our esteemed leader decides to come out and say something because it usually pre empts a shit storm

I really wish he'd shut up too. As much as I want to give the man a fair hearing, his PR since 2007 has been atrocious.

Our Nick was on the platform at Reading station at 6 o'clock, bags packed and ready to go, literally, and maybe metaphorically. I don't know which train he was getting as I had to dash for my train (he didn't follow me, but who wants to go to Staines anyway?), but he'd have had to change at Clapham Junction to get to Selhurst.

Surely our esteemed leader was not telling porkies when he said no fee had been agreed with Palace?!

I would be amazed if he stays. He is as good as gone.

Has he gone yet?

When are we signing Michael Brown?

"He continued: "We have received an offer from Nick Blackman from Crystal Palace, that is no secret.

We will be making decisions next week, but Nick wasn't on any list as a player we would move on and still isn't.

"There is a need to strengthen to boost the squad for the rest of the season. We are hoping to bring in players irrespective of Nick staying or going but we hope he remains a Blade."

I take that as a 'maybe'....

2 in early next week.
