No,our transfer policy is-sell our leading goalscorer without having an immeadiate replacement-and wait till all the available players have moved to bigger better clubs than united, the likes of mighty swindon, preston and so forth, and pick from the bobar thats left in the gutter.

I think Murphy will end up on the left and I think he would be better there. He looked dangerous cutting in from the left flank when he was at Motherwell and having Doyle, McDonald and Robson across the middle as well would give him freedom to roam forward. If we can get BWP in I would play him and Kitson up front.

True that he likes to cut inside, but he's left footed and most players like that prefer to be on the 'wrong' i.e. right flank.

He was great for the Arabs, but that was a LONG time ago. I'd imagine we'll employ him as a wide man, but I'd like to see him in alongside K-Mac (which will never happen).

I thought our transfer policy was to only sign young players with 'sell on' value?

No our transfer policy is to get 30 somethings with a buy-high, sell-no-chance method and give them huge contracts for long periods, that way no-one else can have them. Works well.

Barry Robson would be a good signing, if he's got the commitment to play/perform and not just collect his wages and ghost through games as others have done - we are in the 3rd tier FFS, we won't be making any headline signings for a long time yet i'm afraid.

Copied from BBC website:

1322:
I never thought I would write this sentence, but the race for former Middlesbrough midfielder Barry Robson seems to be hotting up.
Hartlepool United first-team coach John Hughes says he considered making a move for Robson, but a switch would be unlikely.
However the former Hibs boss told BBC Tees he believes Nottingham Forest are interested in the Scotland international, while Sheffield United have also been linked with his services.
Robson, 34, left Boro to join Vancouver Whitecaps at the end of last season but has returned to the United Kingdom after his stint in the MLS and was training with Boro.

Now that first sentence made me laugh!

also from the Beeb:

1339:
CHARLIE AUSTIN LATEST
Here is some good news for Burnley fans from BBC Sport Online North West's Phil Cartwright: "One man who is not expected to move today is Burnley striker Charlie Austin. He was rumoured to be a target for a number of Premier League clubs during the transfer window, while Scottish champions Celtic said Austin would fit the bill for them if they lost Gary Hooper. But Clarets manager Sean Dyche has told BBC Radio Lancashire that Austin, who has scored 23 goals this season, will not leave Turf Moor unless the Championship club receive a "ridiculous" offer."

I reckon we should throw in a bid of £87.50 and an SUFC club tie. Is that ridiculous enough for them?

If it means he stops trying to use Man City as the touchstone when anyone expresses reservations about the benefits to SUFC of handing the ground over to Scarborough then it's a price worth paying....

I don't recall him. Any thoughts of our latest incoming player?

He's signed till the end of the season. Radio Sheffield just confirmed we've received international clearance. Actually quite pleased with this one.

The only good thing out of Scotland is the road to England ;)
