Very shrewd signing if this comes off. Could do a "Stuart McCall" role for us. Does the same as Doyle, but does it a lot better.

So a 20 year old leaves and a 34 year old comes into the squad.... sounds like a good idea....

Selling your top scorer = never a good idea

Just seen this story. Would be a good signing, brings experience and even at 34 is better than anything we currently have in our midfield.

I happy to be convinced otherwise if he arrives but his display at the Lane didn't impress me when he came with Boro, I was certainly expecting more. Can he improve us? well, not too difficult to improve our current midfield!

34 year old FFS Wilson is the new Bryan Robson this club will never learn from it's past mistakes.

did he play with McMahon on the right? Maybe the plan is to link them up again

I do hope not! If we are going to bring in a 34 year old midfielder it needs to be as a general in the middle, not a makeshift wide player.

Could be good short term option to organise and command central midfield and bring the best out of Macca. Can't see him being too effective as a wide player though.

I was only saying to the missus the other day how good a player Stuart McCall was and how we'd benefit from having someone like him at the club. I know, i know, i don't know why she stays with me! Barry Robson could be that man. I say go for him, what have we got to lose?

He was pretty good at Vancouver but didn't settle apparently. I need to add the caveat that this is MLS football we're talking about so not sure if being good here is any indication.

When I was last in Vancouver I saw the Whitecaps vs the Sounders. My word it was poor - Jay DeMerit was the only player on the pitch that looked as though they weren't playing their first ever football match. Awful stuff.

Press reports of his signing seem to be picking up.

At least that's a replacement penalty taker sorted ;)

seems a descent player, used to sign him on the older versions of FM always did a job in midfield, would have him as long as he is in the middle of the park

He would do a decent job on the right or in the middle. He may not be your typical flying winger but neither was Glen Little. A good experienced player can have an impact on the flanks without the need for pace. It does help though if they have a full back willing to make over-lapping runs.

I can't see him replacing Doyle (rightly or wrongly) so it looks like he'd be set for RM with McMahon behind him. Maybe Murphy will be the one to go up front ?

I think Murphy will end up on the left and I think he would be better there. He looked dangerous cutting in from the left flank when he was at Motherwell and having Doyle, McDonald and Robson across the middle as well would give him freedom to roam forward. If we can get BWP in I would play him and Kitson up front.

We would not make top 6 with that line up in my opinion.
