Duffy was better than Fleck last season.

Duffy played really well in spells but disappeared in some games. Fleck just got better and better and did his all to make up for the loss of Coutts all on his own.

I don't think we were as good in the halcyon days of Currie and Woodward as people make out. We were at best a decent midtable Division 1 side that on their day were capable of beating anyone in the league but equally capable of losing to anyone as shown by our dire record in the Cups in that era. The Championship is by far the most interesting and exciting division. Especially for us, who'll expect to be top ten every season. The trouble is, you can't help wanting to win everything, which ultimately means promotion.
