90 points total last season would have made us champions by a long stretch this season.

Yes, and what is even worse is that we got the 90 points in a league that actually contained a minimum of three other very decent teams in Charlton, Huddersfield and Them Lot. This year, only Bournemouth were anywhere near that level once they got going. Even last year's MK Dons would have given this year's Champions Donny a run for their money.

Conclusion: The award for biggest failure in 2012/2013 goes to MK Dons. They did even worse than us in terms of where they finished and should have finished. We finish a comfortable second in the underachievement stakes. Obviously, this could yet change, but I fail to see any quality in United that would allow us to dream of realistic play-off glory... :fattwat:

PS: Fattie added randomly with no connotation purely on account of being a fantastic smilie...

Huddersfield were rubbish last season. They practically gave up about a month from the end starting with that God awful performance at home to Wednesday when they rolled over for them.

Makes it all the more infuriating that they stumbled their way through the play offs and went up at our expense.

Watching 'Final Score' and late goals are flying in all over. United? Can't remember the last time we got a late, decisive goal.

Sounds like a bit of an improvement but Christ, how long can this go on?

Team played (H/A) last season this season compared vs last season
Notts C (H) 1 3 +2
Brentford (A) 0 0 +2
Colchester (H) 3 1 0
Bradford (A)* 1.75 0 -1.75
MK Dons (H) 1 0 -2.75
Rotherham (A)* 1.75 0 -4.5
Carlisle (A) 3 0 -7.5
Preston (H) 1 0 -8.5
Wolves (A)** 2.333 0 - 10.88

We're more than 10 points worse off than last season, when comparing game to game :(

* won at Hartlepool, drew at Scunny, lost at Pompey and won at Bury = 7/4 = 1.75
** Won away at Bournemouth, drew at Donny and won at Yeovil = 7/3= 2.333

shouldn't the project points be around 20? We're currently averaging a wapping .44 points a game. Extrapolated over the season then that's 20 points. Seems much more logical, as we are a fifth into the season and have 4 points, so we're projected to end up with around 20 points. Pretty frightening. Surely that would be some sort of record as well?

Our lowest ever points total (2 for a win) was 22 in 1975-76. As we won 6 that season that is the equivalent 0f 28 under 3 for a win.

That was, of course, in the top division.

Since the 3 points a win system came in and 46 games have been played, the lowest points in the third tier is 21. Cambridge United in 84/85. Step forward SUFC to break that one .....

It lives! It lives!

Coming to something when a draw at home to Crawley is seen as an 'improvement'. Expect normal service to be resumed next Saturday...

As we lost the game at home against Crawley last season, then that was an improvement. We are now -9.88 points down on the same games from last season.

Of course, everybody else is about a million points ahead of last season. Due to Orient, Peterborough and Wolves winning nearly every game they play. Listen to me, i've almost convinced myself we're chasing promotion!

Can we have a "compared with all the teams that got relegated last season" graph??

Hmm. Two up front and what a difference. Enough of this nonsense about Weir 'getting it right' (eventually). Probably the wost manager in our history.

Now can we start playing from the first minute?

For the first 25 minutes today, I thought 'how the hell are we bottom?' Unfortunately for much of the rest of the game, I could see why.
Adams obviously knew how lightweight we are and sent his team out to rough us up. Thanks to a ref. who quickly lost it, they got away with murder. Lee Hughes put in a masterclass in how to get in the oppositions' faces. Ne'er mind. A win's a win.

7. Sheffield United P12 W6 D3 L3 F19 A12 21PTS

16 October 2012

3. Sheffield United P12 W5 D7 L0 F16 A10 22PTS

19 October 2013

20. Sheffield United P12 W2 D2 L8 F10 A20 8PTS

Come back Danny Wilson. All is forgiven.

Well at least the life support machine has kicked in an we are no longer flat lining.

There's bound to be setbacks as we attempt to recover from having The Worst Manager Ever. Not seen or read anything about yesterday but, FFS, that was only the Shrews' third win all season!
Still only 'lost' one point on the last play-off place - it's eleven now.

Well that didn't last long! Absolute disgrace today, probably another loss at Bristol next week and we're right back in the shit.
