Compared with last season...

blown auto now.. 1 nil up against ten men.. that is pathetic
how many games have we drawn now after being in a winning position
i was hoping this was a blip but it's a realignment, we've been unimpressive all season
everyone keeps telling me that tranmere are going to fizzle out.. i'm still waiting

I don't reckon they will; they're doing a Charlton. I think the top 2 will be Tranmere and Donny with Swindon, Brentford, MK Dons and Bournemouth making up the play off places - I think the play off positions will be that if we continue as we are.

Play-offs at best. Anyone who keeps saying "but Tranmere will slip away" now is deluded. They have had a blip and yeah will lose the odd game but Ronny Moore is working a miracle ie Rotherham Utd. Small club, small budget, manager with a loads of passion, gets the best of the team.

Donny were always going to be there or there abouts. For Swindon, depends if they go into administration. Brentford, MK Dons, Bournemouth and Coventry. I say we are 8th best at the minute.

This is where we are really starting to see that we are not as good as last season. It was pretty obvious, but the results defied it. However, a draw at County (a game we won last year) means we drop another 2 points. That puts us on -4.17 from the equivalent games to last season.

The manner that we chucked it away today was sickening. In front, comfortable, missing cances and they get a man sent off. You'd have bet your house we were getting to sit back and make it really difficult for ourselves. We fluffed it and missed a big opportunity. On the contrary, Tranmere are the one's showing some steel. They got beat by Coventry and then went and got a big result today. Be interesting to see how they fare against Swindon in the next game, but I think we can give up on them falling away. It does not seem to matter too much at the moment, because as we stutter Donny fire on all cylinders. Swindon are looking much more likely to challenge for the top 2 than us also.

So we travel to Kevin Blackwell's Bury on Tuesday (if it goes ahead). By no means an easy game. He'll be looking to get one over on us, they are fighting for their lives and we are struggling under pressure. Of course we won their last year and to maintain our -4 compared to last season we need to get a result. With no game next weekend and Coventry the following Friday, it really is a must win game.

8th best? Dont you mean 15th worst?!

Come on Blades lets cheer up.

Coventry game is definately on. Olle gets more nervous. Whilst this fussy ref at Nottingham is keeping us hanging!?

I hear Superdrug are doing a special on incontinence pants Olle - you might need to check it out before the end of the month.

Good display of gutlessness, passionless, ineptitude today or just unlucky?

It was almost all over until Coventry got a 96th minute winner today!!? Although admittedly Oldham had equalised late on. One could say now the wheels of fate are in motition (!?) though the money could be in the bag by 10pm on Tuesday evening. However, if we fook it up again (or the game is called off) then I have a nervous week and a half's wait!?

Bury match postponed, confirmed today = nil points on Tuesday night I'm afraid Olls
- are we touching cloth yet?

I've heard that Preston's under soil heating is working a dream.
- is the turtle's head protruding or what?

What's that sound? Is it moDtheGod playing with his beans? He could have shares in Heinz by Valentines day

There goes another one, Balham Blade clicking the keys on his keyboard as he searches the holiday web sites to see where your wedge is taking him this summer.

Olle could well be feeling as nervous as a professional footballer with a contract at Sheffiled United who currently forms part of an unconvincing match day squad.

Here's Olle looking for the next three points on the board
:tumbleweed:

You'll be fine mate! As you know, I like a bet myself, but I wouldn't have offered those odds!!

However, you will collect. Just the odd coronary along the way!!

Fookin two hats at Bury. Get some fookin udersoil heating.

Squeeky bum time

Can't believe people are saying we've blown it. I'm sure Wednesday were thinking the exact same when they were in a worse position with less time last season, there's still nearly half a season to play for and just 8 points to gain. And yes, we're a little worse off at the same stage last season, but it's a game of relativity; as long as we get one more point than the team in third, or score one more goal etc, then I don't care if we get 100 or 79 points.

yes, but they changed their inept manager which lead to a dramatic improvement in results and incredible run of form ......

Megson wasn't inept as such, he had Wednesday in third, had just beaten us and looking at his wiki page, had a win rate higher than Blackwells and Jones, and much lower than Danny Wilsons.

Some people are. Others, perhaps older and wiser and certainly undeterred by all the incipient gloating above, know that a season lasts 46 games and nothing is won or lost in January. The current league table is a snapshot in time; in truth, it counts for nothing. I recall a team, not so long ago, ten points clear of relegation in the Premier League....

I've said consistently, and I maintain:

Tranmere will not finish in the top two;

Doncaster will not finish in the top two.

Please mock mercilessly whilst you may. We shall return to this in due course.....

Play-offs at best. Anyone who keeps saying "but Tranmere will slip away" now is deluded.

I completely disagree. Any team could slip away at any time. Four or five matches on the bounce without a win can see any team slip down four or five places like has happened to us in less than a month.

This time last season Huddersfield were in 2nd place and lots of people on here were constantly saying how they were going to be a big threat to us and serious contenders for automatic. They stayed in contention right up until the end of March but then turned to complete shite in the last eight matches of the season and ended up finishing 12 points behind Wednesday.

Tranmere have done well so far to stay in the top 2 all season but they could still easily falter.

They were 5 points behind us and had played a game more when he was sacked. They also would have dropped to 5th had MK Dons and Huddersfield won their games in hand. Not disimliar to our current position. Only an incredible run under Jones got them back into contention. If you control for the league (that is compare their record at League One level) Jones would have a miles better record that Megson.

That puts us on a -5 vs last season (for the equivalent games) also.

Think that puts us back on -4 compared to last season (-3.93 if I am right). Might need SellyOakBlade to confirm. However, we need to win the next 4 (Bury away, Colchester at home, Bournemouth away and Orient at home) just to maintain that minus 4 status. In fact, we beat Oldham at their place and MK Dons at home, so we need to win the next 6 to stay 4 points behind last season!? Go on a run like that and Grafikhaus' software will explode. The next 2 are very winnable, so we should aim to get those out of the way and go to Bournemouth with a bit of confidence. We need to get results against the top 6 teams in the latter part of this season.

Bury was going to be tough without them hitting a bit of form. If we can produce the goods in that one I will drive the bus

Look at the league table from this stage last season http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-one/2011-2012/table/2012-02-22 Charlton had 69 points after 31 games!!! We had 62 and the Pigs 57. It's so tight this year and no one is convincing (with the possible exception of Bournemouth). If us, Brentford and Yeovil (wtf!?) were to win games in hand (though it will not work out like that with the way the fixtures pan out) then the top 7 would be seperated by 2 points!? Bizarre. Regardless, any of the top 6 could go up automatic, yet no bugger seems to want to!?

Olle's magic number of 83 will be more than enough for 2nd spot this year (3rd place Swindon's projected points are 82).
