Anyone know what the problem is with Collins, I heard it was "personal" but nothing more.....whatever it is I wish him all the best.

Agreed, whatever it is must be serious if there's a doubt over him for the weekend.

Hope it all ends well whatever it is.

Not sure of the detail but I heard his baby was very ill.
Wouldn't wish that sort of thing on anyone - must be really hard to handle - like Billy Sharp recently.
Hope it doesn't get to that state, though.

Has to be serious - I believe Collins is also a doubt for Tuesday night

I imagine that someone close to him has passed away, so rushing him back when his head isn't in the right place may end up making things worse.

Don't think I'd want to go straight back to work either if that is the case.

Edit: Or what has just been said above.

My 5 year old was in intensive care just befor Christmas and at one point it was very close to the unthinkable, if it is his child he has my thoughts and best wishes, I wouldn't wish what I, my wife and our other son went through on my worst enemy.

family bereavement is the problem should be okay for tuesday night fingers crossed

thing is not to panic , have a full compliment back on Saturday, as only 1 match bans, and we have a 4 point cushion, but we should attack tomorrow take the pressure off and not settle for a 2 goal lead

Some things are more important than football. He should take as much time as he needs

Agreed, he can have as much time as he needs, we will welcome him back when he's ready.

Hope all is ok now Torrix? :)

We didn't settle for a 2 goal lead on Saturday - things just went horribly wrong but we had so many chances and opportunities in 2nd half - none of which went in obviously.

He's getting there thanks Gaz, was a very scary time. Poor little man collapsed on the bathroom floor with breathing difficulties, 15 minutes later he's in an Ambulance and then it's like a scene out of Casualty, he was ventilated and on life support for 3 days but he's a stubborn little Blade and is getting stronger every day.

Glad to hear Torrix. Wish Collins (and his family) all the best. We need him more than ever but not before he feels he is ready. As has already been said, somethings are just far more important than a game of football.

We had similar many years ago- very scary, felt so helpless and these nurses and doctors were running around and all i could do was blubber. Tell him his bigger Blades family are behind him. And that goes to the Collins family as well.

Cheers Boo, means a lot. I still well-up now just thinking about how close we came to the unthinkable, (still can't actually say it!) and whatever the cause of his absence, the Collins family need each other right now and that's where he should be.

Torrix, I echo what boo has said about your lad and Collins. It really is a parents worse nightmare when their child is ill. Im effing useless when one of mine is even sick god knows what I would be like in your shoes. Hope to god I never find out

My understanding was that his dad had died? regardless, all the best with whatevers going on Neil.

Little boy is ill apparently. Almost certainly will not be playing tonight (see FB interview yesterday) but should be back for the weekend.

Poor guy-he should definitely get a good cheer on his return as mentioned earlier.

Heard from a very reliable source his son is very unwell. Certainly will not be playing tonight, but weekend is hopeful

All the best Neil. Hope everything works out ok and his son gets better. Some things are more important than football.

Interestingly, this has shown how reliant we are on him. He misses his first game of the season and the defence falls apart. From cruising against a poor team to conceding 3 goals and getting 2 players sent off. I was very worried when I got a text at 2:50 saying he was not playing. Suppose you are always going to suffer when one of your players of the season is taken out of the squad, but I don't think any expected us to implode the way we did. Now whether we'd have lost the game the way we did with him in the team is up for debate, but it certainly gives food for thought the value he brings to the defence/team.

How times have changed. Gone from Zero to Hero in about 9 months. Either way our support for him in his hour of need would be the same.

GET WELL SOON COLLINS JR.

Short of leaders on the pitch I think.
You would have thought that with Cresswell, Doyle, Quinn and Willo that there would have been enough senior pro's to cover but it appears that Collins is the bed rock of the team.
I get the impression we are a quiet team, though - and that's not normally a good thing.
Every player shoudl be helping one another out with encoragement and direction.
There doesn't seem to be one stand out character like Morgan that gets the team gelling and spurs them on in the same way.

Mr Collins and Torrix, From this guy you have never met, I wish you and your families all the best and as much love from a stranger as is possible in these circumstances.

Thank god.

I'll second that. I don't care about whether he is back Saturday, just care for his family. After all, we are still The Family Club.
