I don't think they've bought to flip, but it does feel like they are currently out of their depth and have not prepared at all.

On the face of it, the decision to bring Selles in was certainly bold. It didn't appear knee-jerk based on the time they took to announce it, but to their credit, they decided to make the step to bring a new manager in and go in their own direction, which is all well and good.

But since doing that they haven't supported him at all. The decision not to recruit early whilst selling and letting so many players with experience go is a red flag. Statements of bringing the age of the squad down in the hope that these kids will start tearing up a new league, higher and more physical than any of them have played at / in is also another red flag.

Now they stuck and they are most likely shitting the bed as they realise that to go a different direction its going to cost them more.

Time is ticking for this window and it will become panic stations quickly if we don't sort out the onfield issues...

If they’re shitting the bed Swiss, does that qualify them as bed wetters and specifically should our resident happy clappers add them all to the list?

Asking for a friend 🙂

Lets judge at the end of the window and not get too concerned just yet, although I have to admit, the take over process where the consortium changed half way through, chucked up some red flags for me
Selles seems to be getting concerned now, so maybe we should be a little worried! I'm in the give it time camp, but boy, are COH making that hard.

I think Selles is trying to instil some urgency into our hierarchy. Hope it works but up to press, I’m seeing nothing at all from our esteemed owners that gives me great confidence.

Whilst I agreed in previous posts twice, none of us know how much CoH have to spend/invest, but I added that perhaps their ability to invest has changed/been compromised? No one however responded to that possibility

Now there’s rumours that all is not well inside the consortium. This perhaps could be a factor? I suppose time will tell?
I trust thee with what ya can tell us [i'm ira's mate in another country] cheers pal

Without knowing all the ins and outs of who in COH has the ultimate decision in agreeing deals, one has to assume a budget has been agreed by the board, in consultation with the manager.
Therefore as CEO and Director, surely Bettis is the man on the ground who has the authority to rubber stamp all deals in and out, without having to continually go back to the board for discussion and agreement. As an accountant is his primary instinct to 'haggle' for the best financial deal, over-riding the aim for getting the deals done as quick as possible for the benefit of United? Indeed finance before football.
Seems like a similar story to the previous regime under the Prince.
Selles along with us fans are not impressed.
Whoever is responsible, get your finger out.

Let's wait till the end of the transfer window. What evidence have we had that we will be able to get in the 5 players Selles says we need minimum in the next 2 weeks when we've had 7 weeks and haven't got 3 that were originally stated as being needed? If we lose any one else they will need replacing as well. On evidence likely hood is we will be more tucked by the end of the window than when it opened. I wish I had the blind unevidential optimism of the happy clappers. I 100% hope at the end of the window people will come back to this post and call me a bedwetting fanny as I've been proved wrong. Not hopeful this will happen.

My heart says be patient, however, the new owners sanctioned the total disaster that is Tom Canon based purely on CWs recommendation and Bettis agreeing with It. Who wouldn’t have reservations with spending money going forward. I said at the time Yank businessmen don’t always fit into the football club owner mould; when they get burnt it usually means get some money back in ….and quick…..wouldn’t surprise me if Gus goes next
I thought the Cannon signing was from the data/analytics guys and Wilder didn't have much input

I keep racking my brain trying to think why anyone would invest £105m to buy a football club when the only way to really make a profit (or even just get your money back) is to either get in to the Premier League and stay there (going up and immediately coming down won't make the money back and usually ends of losing money) or invest in a top quality academy/recruitment system where you uncover gems and sell them for a huge profit. I mean, what were they going to do if we got promoted? They'd need another £100m minimum just to keep us there like Forest did on top of the Prem income, and surely they knew all through the bidding process that there was a massive chance we wouldn't be going up last season anyway. If they're happy to just let the club tick over on current income, then they've essentially lost all their money.

Then it came to me - what if there are 10,050,000 investors/gamblers in the consortium who each put in a £10 bet that we'd go up last season? One person might miss £105m, but they'd probably not mind losing a tenner...

The "man from Del Monte" I feel is one of the main stumbling blocks to the club modernising. He has previously come out against having a Director of Football so what level of advice is he giving to COH. On top of previous owners not having enough cash to take the club forward Del Monte is the main constant at the club, he has been there 10 years, time for a change. A proactive, modern thinking CEO with vision and football experience at a higher level is required along with a Director of Football. Problem is I have no doubt the "puppet master" Prince gave him a glowing reference so unless COH remove the blinkers it's the same old same old.
I don’t disagree with you but Bettis is a co-owner now, so it’s going to be a slog getting shot of him.

See a lot of references to the recruitment ‘team’ - is this Hoyland and Wilder’s data guy that stop on when he left?

Easy to target the manager/owners in this scenario but it’s been the same with 4 different managers and two different owners so there is something fundamentally wrong with how we manage transfers.

That’s almost certainly what happened.

What’s also happened is we’ve previously got promoted on a shoestring budget, others have too. They’ve almost certainly thought by they could manage to do the same.

Agree with much of this, apart from the the 'minor tweaking' aspect.

We had so many players returning to parent clubs from loans, contracts expiring, plus the need to 'balance books' with a couple of sales.

The summer was always going to need an element of squad rebuilding, not just minor changes - that was impossible.

The crux of it is that no planning has gone into it and we are now left lightyears behind where we should be.

EDIT: The mess we find ourselves in happens no matter who the manager is by the way.
I'd like to think that CW or a more experienced manager would have been more vocal with the requirements and not have allowed things to be so bad.

Why can’t Bettis grow a pair and explain the facts of life or he might as well do one as well ! Just an innocent bystander or what ?
Does anyone know what Bettis’s involvement in Utd is, a quick look at companies house shows only two Directorships, both for dormant, personally owned enterprises, he has resigned from all the previous Directorships he held at Utd?

A) Botev Plovdiv are a top division side and regularly qualify for European football
B) Caceres was signed from Peru
C) it’s actually more like 7 months
So do teams from Gibraltar, San Marino and the Faroe Islands. If you play Dynamo Shitkickers every week even my stats would look good

If Handsworth declared itself an independent country then maybe their footy team would too…

Who are the actual individuals in this ownership consortium? There is of course Steve Rosen & Helmy Eltoukhy but who are the others described as "successful entrepreneurs, visionaries, business partners & friends"? What are the names of the other members of COH Sports?
