COH appear to have bought in expecting promotion and a quick return on their investment. When it hasn't happened and they've seen the cost involved with just sustaining a club at this level they've baulked, sold senior pros (which I get we need to or you end up like them lot) but not replace them at all. It's disastrous - even the likes of fucking Millwall, Preston and Derby who aren't exactly rolling in cash can sign decent, experienced or strong standard defenders. Fucking joke of a club.

They agreed a deal with The Prince before last season had even started. They certainly didn't buy the club thinking promotion was assured. I've no idea what their plan is but it's not right for say they bought in just because promotion looked on. When they actually agreed a deal, we looked a club in complete disarray with barely any players

Awful. We sold Souza over a month ago, we needed a centre half then and we would have been 100 per cent aware of interest in Anel and the likelihood of him going to further weaken the back line, yet we've not even looked like signing anyone there, in fact there are stronger rumours that we are selling defenders rather than signing them.

£40m para payment this season

Wait while the following season 😮

We’ve played two average teams and conceded 6.

We’re supposed to be one of the promotion favorites and were in the Premier League not long back.

People are rightly concerned of the direction of travel.

What’s worse is we can’t even tell if the manager has got his tactics right or not because he hasn’t been given anywhere near the right tools and the season has already begun.

I’m surprised Bettis is allowing this to happen. This isn’t his first rodeo by any means.

I’m thinking of writing a strongly worded letter to President Trump asking him to tell COH to sell the club as they’re an embarrassment to their nation.

I might even beg Prince Harry to have a word.

FFS where’s Staton when you need him?

I don't think Selles thinks it is. I don't throw him in with the ownership at all, he's as much of a victim as us IMO.

I think COH haven't appreciated the size of the job and the fact we still need players who are ready, quite a few of them in fact.

The transfer window hasn't closed is such a weak argument for me. Based on hope, not fact.

Exactly, I’m saying judge them at the end of the window.

It’s fucking obvious we need to sign players, COH will be aware of that. Let’s see what they do about it.

Ok. Let's see. But based on what's actually happening, that's not the position with the solid footing is it?

The season has actually started. We did actually start RND at CB on Saturday. Our squad is piss weak in depth. We were presumably supposed to be challenging (they haven't told us otherwise).

Those are facts, and your position is pure optimism.

Hope it's justified 100%, really do. But those are the reasons people are questioning the board at the minute. It's not hard to fathom

I don’t think in all honesty we were ready for the Premier League but I would have expected some extra players in, but as things stand we are miles off competing in this division, the heart and soul seems to be draining in front of us.

Some players aren’t happy, you can see that and I’ve seen very little quality come in through the door. Please at least communicate with us, or you’ll end up dividing these fans and it won’t be very nice.

Yes I know it’s only been two games, but we’ve gone backwards

People comparing this to the situation Hecky was in at the start of that PL season are waaaaaaaaaaaaay off the mark. Just look at the team we put out against Palace that day.

We are able to put out a fairly competitive XI, though the squad obviously needs filling out. The Anel sale was clearly a bit of a shock, Feyenoord needed him desperately and fast, we could either take a good fee or leave it, hoping someone else would come in for him.

Has we not lost our first two games, nowt would be being made about the squad at this stage of the window.

You may have hit on something there. Maybe they like clubs in disarray with barely any players...

Given their seeming lack of finer detail football knowledge, I'd say they were looking to buy a team coming down from the top division, who had recently gone back up and down and in a league where relegated teams are generally successful. Yes I know that no one expected us to be strong last season but I do suspect they bought us with hope if not expectation of an instant return on investment. Failure to do so means we are stuck with skint owners with no plans and seemingly little football knowledge. Great being a Blade isn't it 😂

I am not sure why on 28 Mar 2025 we were top of the league after beating Coventry with 7 games to go however some how managed to lose to Oxford, Millwall, Plymouth and drew with Blackburn. We could have still lost to Burnley if we have had won the games on paper that we should have done and would have gone up in 2nd, with Leeds on 100 and us on 101
We'll not have to worry about missing out on promotion this year by losing 3 on the trot in late season.
We're going to be scratching around for the odd point here and there to keep us up from what we've seen so far.

You may laugh but they’ve follows a similar play book this summer:

Offloaded a popular manager
Sold the better players
Invested no fees in first team players
Failed to communicate any vision

Difference being that United were starting from a much higher platform and Wednesday, despite their troubles have a. Progressed in the Cup and b. Not conceded 6 in 2 matches.

So now the Stand has been reopened and the wages are up to date, given the volumes of sales of the team’s spine, they’re actually lagging behind Chansiri, which seems incredible given the protests his actions are receiving.

Not wrong, I mean Lineker got paid millions for MOTD reviews after 1 league game and 1 loss it’s difficult to work out where the points are coming from in that match

Whilst I agreed in previous posts twice, none of us know how much CoH have to spend/invest, but I added that perhaps their ability to invest has changed/been compromised? No one however responded to that possibility

Now there’s rumours that all is not well inside the consortium. This perhaps could be a factor? I suppose time will tell?

Trust me. I ain’t laughing. I have my own theories as to why they bought us and I’m expecting things to get pretty tasty if nothing changes.

wrong titally wrong our 1st eleven tonight was not competetive

Serious question. What makes you so confident that COH are aware of our urgent need?
Serious question. What makes you so confident that COH are unaware of our urgent need?

Not having a go but this question works the same. Both have the same answer. We don't know. But I highly doubt that anyone pays over £100mil for a football club then just turns their back, ignores it and doesn't give a toss about what is happening.

If there is a lack of understanding of football at owner level then this would further cement the case of a DoF, something this football club has needed for years.

Ok, so we’re waiting for the release of better players later on in the window..,,But unfortunately so are Ipswich, Leicester, Southampton and Brum…Stop pissing about Blades, go out and buy the players you want and use the fucking money you’ve been given.

Their actions to date would be some strong supporting evidence.

We need to sign players, but the window hasn’t closed yet, so still time to build a squad capable of competing.

Do you honestly think that Selles, Bettis and COH think everything is fine and aren’t trying to sign players?

I get your point that there is still time before the window closes, but the season has already started and we will be 5 games in by the time the window closes. The window has been open all summer and we've yet to sign a player on a permanent deal (although Soumares is a loan with an obligation to buy).

A new set of owners bringing in a new manager and making statements in the summer about returning to the Premier League AND sustaining the presence there, you'd expect them to be making a bit more of a statement in the recruitment field this summer rather than in the final two weeks.

I'm all for giving other sides a head start, they're clearly confident after last seasons points haul of 92 before the deduction, that Selles will go beyond that, but to not have a side ready to get going from the first game is a little surprising, if i'm honest.

To pick up on a point about a squad. I think it is extremely unlikely that we will have a squad capable of competing, we may get a first 11 and a couple of subs together by the end of August, but we won't have anywhere near the squad depth we had last season and thats not taking into account any injuries. We may get 3-4 players in at a push.
