This has probably been commented on before but why is 99% of the stuff in our club shop absolute tat?

The quality is shocking and the prices inflated. Not just the Macron stuff (which is Netto kit making) but simple t-shirts are of the thinnest cheapest nastiest material.

As we have a "football family" couldn't we have a Fradi, Chengdu and Aussie area. They might have some good stuff to buy made by a decent manufacturer.

Oh yeah, and whenever I go in they only have shorts made for Martin Samuel's fatter older brother or a hobbit. Surely sports goods should be stocked for people of a size who might consider doing a bit of sport

**Thanks Diplomat**

I quite like the designs of the Macron stuff, but as you say, most of the gear is cheap tat...

We need some proper designs, proper "sports leisurewear". Le coq sportif used to do a decent range of pubwear - polo's, tops etc, but we then binned them right when they were supplying decent stuff

total garbage, the club aren't concerened though clearly...

The club merchandise is complete & utter garbage & has been for years. Basic stuff like t-shirts & caps all come in cheap & embarrassing designs. Can't we have some plain coloured shirts and caps with small club badges - or embroidered badges - rather than garish designs with massive badges that appear to have been glued on at odd angles? I've been in a few other club shops on my travels and our merchandise is by far the worst I've seen.

i can remember when dave kelly worked in the shop, and it was stocked with quality shirts, like dress/suit type shirts with the club name embroidered on to pocket,i once bought a denim jacket must be 10 years ago with embroidered top pocket and its as good now as it was when i bought it.the polo and t-shirts are only fit for polishing the car after one wash

Sounds like the the poor styling goes right back to when Dave Kelly worked in the shop then ;)

i think some blades fans are going to be very disappionted, cant see the shop stocking the likes guuchi, prada g.star etc etc, cant even get a decent team together

Maybe this is where the club need to target...

The only decent shop in Sheff for menswear is Harrisons, perhaps United should cash in on this market and put the profits into buying a team

Oh and G.star was so 2003

There used to be some decent stuff in the club shop. I've got a few nice polo shirts that have got nothing more than the Blades badge on. No Le Coq/Patrick/Macron branding whatsoever.

They've had nothing but complete and utter crap in the shop for quite a few years now though. They really ought to start making some more smart gear, the sort of stuff you can wear to the pub. I might start spending my money in the club shop then.

I have one of those polo shirts, had it for 8 years and it's as good as new.

The stuff there now is garbage but the staff are laughably even worse, utterly clueless and they don't care either. But then that is the impression I get at SUFC from top to bottom, anything is too much trouble. The only thing they know how to do is take your money.

Ever met Mick Rooker?

It's always a pleasure to pop in and get my next mug and shirt, I don't go there to buy my suits, shoes or whatever, just supporter junk. I'm not a collector so it only has to get me through a couple of seasons. Most of my stuff is older than that and still is in good shape, so compares well with most of the stuff I've seen on sale elsewhere in Sheffield: don't know the highend stores, so obviously there are some super shoppers on here.

If you don't like the merchandise, don't buy it.

Replica kits have long been a huge rip-off - from England shirts down to non-league. Few fans have got the figure to look good in them anyway.

United haven't got their own buyer of stuff any more to my knowledge. When we had LCS, everything was sorted out centrally which is why we had the odd brochure through with Wolves' contact details on.

I commented on the quality of the Macron shirts when they appeared last year - and got slagged off for it - but I still stand by what I said that it's rubbish, especially the home shirt (The white one wasn't too bad) - cheap and nasty!
And I don't expect the new kit to be any better!

Mind you, have we ever had a decent kit manufacturer? Umbro maybe?

I can't believe that the Pigs get Puma and we get some second rate unknown cack!

I don't think the Macron Shirts are bad, I've had no problem with mine so perhaps i'm lucky... I like the design of the home shirt, it looks good and the slightly fitted style certainly beats some of the baggy/ wide shapes that we've had with Avec and some of the earlier le coq sportif shirts

Puma seem to have different grades of designs.... Some of the decent European teams with Puma kits look great, but the UK designs are normally sh*te... Or is it that its just that I don't like Blue and White :)

i remember them catologues, i got one through the post as well

Mine is a white one with grey/silver thin horizontal stripes and the Blades badge in grey/silver. Had it for christ knows how long and like you say, its still good as new
It's all made in Chinese sweat shops, whatever label is on it
That maybe but at least Puma, Nike, Adidas etc are good. Macron is bloody awful.

Although I really like the design of the home shirt, the quality of it is pretty poor. The away shirt isn't bad though.

Some of the Puma kits are excellent. I've got a Villareal shirt from a couple of years ago which is superb and some of the World Cup kits are really nice. The red & yellow Ghana one and the green and white Ivory Coast one are absolutely fantastic.

Fact 1: Fans will buy 1000's of well designed Nike / Adidas shirts
Fact 2: Fans will buy very few of Macron or Avec's kack
Fact 3: Nobody at the Lane has ever had the sense to see this

I feel the hand of a controlling dinosaur behind the scenes somewhere.

No it's not. Nike have factories all over the world, including at one time a factory in England. Sure, there is a lot of sportswear made in China, but it's also made across Asia, in Central America and Europe. However, the Macron stuff compared to Nike, Adidas or even LCS is crap.

some of my relatives abroad asked me to send some merchandise .. frankly i was embarrassed to send it.

Not so much dinosaur as inept, incompetent moron's who don't see the fanbase the club has and the potential money that could be made not just on replica shirts but club wear.

Super broke and tin pot Hull City have signed up with Adidas this week.

I just don't get why the Club don't umbro on the phone and go "Hello we're the original United, we play at arguably the home of football in the city where football was created, tailor us a smart range of mecrchandise, oh and get your bank manager on because you gonna make some right dollar"

Then again United are probably happy at the fact that they always sell out of replica kits......at the end of the season when everything is a tenner.

Because they pay for it.

You want Adidas, Nike, Puma you pay them up front and you take less percentage.

I'm guessing that isn't the case with Macron.
