In todays Star Clough says theres only one way forward , going forward , all out attack
"The last two home performances [Gillingham and Orient] haven’t yielded six points but they are indicative of what we want to do.

“I keep trying to lay it out to the players, especially at Bramall Lane - it should be wave after wave of attacks, with lots of passing and good crosses into the box.

“If we keep believing that something will come, then we will get our rewards and on another day, these matches could have finished three or four-nil.”

He is ready to put this strategy forward now as it starts to come together, , 35 games left to show its a team that can go up .

I for one applaud this initiative , onwards and upwards

The problem being in the first half against Orient we were in effect playing without a striker, hence no real chances to get on the end of the crosses.

well once they cross the line its down to the players, he reminded them at half time what the plan was
its not happened for a full game yet but someones going to get tonked

I'll have some sympathy for our lack of goals when he actually starts the game with a striker or two on the field.

Clough says get on front foot

I would agree if they weren't currently both left.

Also, the only way we will be tonking anyone is when we include some lads that can finish in the team - until then we will create some movement and put balls into dangerous positions but still fail to convert the chances created.

McNuts has to start matches and we need at least one loan striker to back him up.

(and I am not including the release of the Devil incarnate that will emerge on Friday this week)

Agree, the biggest problem is the lack of a key striker - McNulty may grow in to that role - but playing with Baxter and Murphy as the strike force shows where we are getting it wrong.

These two are providers not finishers.

Baxter's goals to games ratio would suggest he is a finisher.

Indeed yes ..... and whilst I would like to see Mr Evans back at the Lane its going to take him at least until January to get fit if he does return so he is not the answer just yet. Loan striker needed NOW please Mr Clough ......

Yet many on here were disappointed with both games.

I think we were unlucky to go behind in either never mind both. The luck seems to be against us at the minute. Lost count how many times we've hit woodwork and had clearances off line in last 2 home games. I think its 4 & 3 respectively. Both games could easily have been 5 or 6 nil.

It would help if the opposition didn't score every time they got a shot on target as well, it's not the goals for that have been the problem of late...
