If Adkins wants to play 4-4-2 then maybe we need 6 new players

If he plays 4-5-1 maybe 4/5.

3-5-2 maybe 4/5

4-3-3 maybe 5.

There are a few who could leave from midfield.

Indeed - we need some players but no one knows yet what Adkins will do.

Considering the players Clough brought in, the majority fit into 5 in midfield and expecting Adkins to get rid of bucket loads, considering their contracts, is pie in the sky.

Considering we need central defenders, he may go for 3 at the back to accommodate our vast array of existing midfield.

Fore sure, it is going to be interesting in the coming months - I at least have my enthusiasm back..............for a bit.

Sorry Thadeus, yes it's a follow on from a thread I started at the weekend when I got slaughtered for boring everybody with the theme that we have a squad with so many players in it who will be worried about their position in the new regime. I said players have uncertainties and worries and seemingly they don't care a toss about the club or anything but their wage packet and moreover our fans don't seem to care a toss about the players either.

I don't want to ressurect that debate but you can see it elsewhere.

Thanks Woodwardfan.

I stood by Clough, I was saying he will get us up, I probably should have had the balls to speak up and say you know what he is going to fuck this up.

Hopefully Adkins will put this club where we belong, because at the moment we deserve to be in div 1

It is now the time for the players to stand up and be counted .................. to show the new boss what they are capable of ....................... and to show the boss 100% commitment to the cause !
I am sure Mr Adkins will look at the players he has under his watch and sort out the wheat from the chaff - Hopefully there is more wheat than chaff!
There are several players that have to:
  • Prove their fitness including Wallace (J), Cuvelier, Kennedy, Howard, Flynn, Higdon, Done, Scougall & Brayford
  • Prove their commitment including Murphy, Coutts, JCR,
  • Improve on their consistency including Freeman, Harris, McEverely, McNulty,
  • Look to kick on and develop into the players they have promised including Long, McGahay, Reed and Adams
Personally I would ditch Collins, Alcock and Wallace (K) as in my opinion offer the team nothing either now or in the future

A lot of ifs and buts however, this squad with two or three additions ( please not Billy Sharp or Aidy White !) properly focused and straining at the leash should be more than good enough to get automatic promotion.

If they are not fit - get rid - we cannot afford any passengers

I do believe the players owe the club big time with their half hearted performances - now is the time to step up to the plate or get out of town !

I along with many others are fed up watching Division Three football - but the reason is we are a third division club - so lets change it !

Don't worry about Done's fitness.

You're getting carried away, mate. England (and Italy) U-18 players come and go. They are ten a penny and the vast majority of them go on to achieve little or nothing in the game.

Reed is a decent young prospect with a lot of potential. That's it; nothing more. I congratulate him on playing for England, a poor team by international standards but, if you're English, the best you can do.

It doesn't mean young Louis should be a fixture in our first team, though. Certainly not in the next season or so. If he is (along with other Bladey Boyband favourites like Long and Kennedy) then we have problems.

Of course if you think the proper function of our club is to develop local talent, however limited they might be, at the expense of the first team, that's fine. Don't ask me to sign up though, I'm interested in promotion and success, achieved, as it always is, by proper football.

LOL...Ten a penny, achieve little or nothing, a poor team. Is it beyond you to genuinely congratulate a player without the barbed comments to minimise his achievements.

Do you think these young players select themselves? 'excuse me gaffer I'll play today if you don't mind, I'm bored'

Or do you actually think our managers really do know something about football (obviously not as much as your good self) and select them on merit.

Is it such a bad thing developing local talent. Do our managers actually play lads knowing they are no good or do they play (within tactical limitations) the best team available to win games?

Oh and if it means you 'not signing up' then........

Why does Pinchy not remember all the Bladey Bladey young lads we brought through from youth football over the years. Far too many to mention, especially in the 50's, 60's 70's. Even in recent years we have produced so many Bladey Bladey quality players but we sold them all. Without those sales we would not have been able to afford the wages of all those magical players he must imagine are queuing up to join our club and are so much better than anybody S2 can nurture.

It was them Bladey Blade young lads playing at the lane , why i supported SUFC and not the other lot , when being brought up , as a kid living in Hillsborough , surrounded by blue and white .Lets not knock any of our young lads , its just crazy.

Reed the first player to be retweeted by Adkins, possibly due to him copying his boss's positive vibes. First name on the teamsheet at this rate.

I can't agree with this paragraph mate. One of the reasons a player at under 18s level doesn't get anywhere is because all the foreigners come over and push them down the pecking order. The only under 18s players that will go onto establish themselves are the ones who play at the so called top clubs, it really is an achievement in itself that Reedy has been noticed at League one level, that should be worth something on it's own.

Training and playing regular have a lot to do with it but what chance do they have when mediocre foreigners come over pushing them down the pecking order, making them play at a lower level than them mediocre foreign players that come over. Just one example and there are many others is Jon Obi Mikel, utter fucking bobbar, propably gets 100k a week but what the fuck for? He's wank and does'nt even do half a job but what he is doing is stopping an English talent from taking his place for propably not even a quarter of his wages.

Now i know you don't bother about England but atleast have the decency to acknowledge when someone in a Blades shirt, has done something great, in what was a let down of a season as far as promotion was concerned.

For all this Bladey bladey stuff you like to dishout, this does suprise me somewhat because although Reed is a Bladey blade, he is also a pure footballer and not an hoof merchant;)

I'm not comparing Reed to Obi Mikel 'btw', that would be stupid. Reed is miles better:)
