Hope he doesn't go the same road as Slew

I don't wish him well and I don't wish anything bad on him either, he's just another very average player that will become a multi millionaire.
Football eh!!!! The only business where the very average and extremely poor at their jobs can retire at 32-35 and then patronise everybody about their short careers......... Aww diddums, don't you feel for the poor bastards

I'd have him back in an instant. Promotion this season should take priority, and Harry is better than any defender we have at the club.

I was told 'ITK' that the relationship between Clough & Maguire was dead with Clough stating to Maguire that he nor his family are welcome at Bramall Lane anymore.

.

Read about this earlier but I'd be surprised if it was true considering the supposed bust up between him & Clough.

Maybe the supposed 'ITK's' were just picking up on the rubbish being spouted on facebook and twitter and assumed it was true

Not that it has any bearing on this revelation, but I saw him walking out of the ground on Saturday. I thought it was odd because I was told 'ITK' that the relationship between Clough & Maguire was dead with Clough stating to Maguire that he nor his family are welcome at Bramall Lane anymore.

Would be happy to have him back, although it's making the NC recruitment policy look a bit slapdash.
Maybe that's why he was there Saturday. To talk with Cloughy but I'd heard he was looking to the championship for a loan.

I heard about him "engineering the move" from both employees from United and Hull. Cloughy's being pragmatic if we get him back on loan and rightly so. We won't be covering his wages so Cloughys decision is simple. Better or worse side with or without Harry? Although if he comes back the move was clearly about money not development. Not a problem with that so long as Harry doesn't try and sell the latter as his reason for behaving like an arse.

didn't Clough say somat bout it being unlikely whilst Hull are still in Europe and the league cup

I didn't read his interview anything like the op did
Yup ,seems like that to me pal ..even if they did go out of both(which seems unlikely,NC seems to think he may prefer to go to a champ club on loan. Leeds maybe ?)

Call me controversial, but I don’t see what we’ll achieve by bringing him back. No denying he’s an excellent player, but Clough has always maintained that he wants players at the club that want to play for us. It was very clear that Harry left because he wanted to play in the Premier League. In quotes from Harry before he left he said that he’d done two seasons in this division and wanted to move on. That doesn’t really sound like a player that wants to play for us
So what now? He suddenly wants to come back on loan to further his chances in the Premier League? If he can’t dislodge McShane and Bruce from the match day squad then there is something wrong.

Personally I’d rather see us make a move for someone that now wants to play for the club AND is a talented player.

Well it seemed like Clough was pissed off with how Maguire left the club when he moved to Hull. Now he is saying "Oh I'd love to him back."

Not sure what's going on with Clough these days. I just hope he knows what he is doing and is aware of what he is saying on the radio. I don't think it's too smart commenting on players you are interested in either.

One thing seems certain, Butler is going regardless of Maguire returning. He didn't want to talk much about Butler at all which has been the case before in interviews.

Bladesman

I did wonder this myself. Clough certainly did seem peeved when he left and we had some rumours on here of a falling out. Was anything actually confirmed that Clough was pissed off with Harry himself.
I can understand Clough wanting Harry back, he’s a fantastic player for this division. He does seem to like tried and tested players and he’s made no secret about this in his previous interviews, which makes sense – you want to work with players you know and trust. But it does seem unusual with Harry.
Perhaps we read too much into the apparent bust up.
As for commenting on players you’re interested in, Clough seems to do this only when there is something already happening, which makes the Pearce from Leeds comments all the more intriguing. He normally keeps his powder dry until a deal is almost done.
Regarding Butler, there is an interview with Clough after Coventry, he talked a fair bit about Butler, basically saying he can do what he wants on his time off if not selected. He expects him to be working hard to get a place back and at that time he didn’t expect Butler to be wanting to leave. He said that if Butler (or any other player) wants to play football elsewhere then he would discuss it, but so far, Butler hadn’t asked for a move.
I do find Clough very open and straight in his interviews, answers most sensible questions where he can and tries to give a detailed insight into the way he likes things to go. I don’t think he likes to be asked the same questions over and over.

You expect NC to be jumping for joy when he best defender insists that he wants to leave when he believed that HM would no do this and see out his contract if a bid wasn't acceptable ?

I think you are making something out of nothing on this one.

As for Butler, he proves he is better than Collins and McGahay and he will get in the side. In the pre-season games I saw, plus the game against Mansfield, he look a long way from a first team start. However, he may get an opportunity tonight

I didn't get the impression at all he was returning and I highly doubt Hull would want him to return to us anyway. How will it benefit his career returning to play at League One where he has spent the past few years and would he even want to? Surely if he wanted to stay in League One he would have spent another year with us and then moved on.

It’s not like he couldn't get a game in the Championship if Hull decide they do want to loan him out, Wolves where very keen before Hull came in and would be more beneficial for the player and Hull to be playing at a higher level.

Sorry to be negative but I just don't see him returning at all.............hope i'm wrong.

Totally out of the know - but could it be that the Maguire rumour is a way of stopping Leeds / Pearce's agent playing silly buggers over money? "Oh you want that much do you, oh well we'll just loan this player back then"

Thing is about the rumours is they rarely come from consistent sources - maybe the fell out, maybe there were crossed words or maybe there was a tiff and they shook hands afterwards. Or possibly it never happened and we were just disappointed??

We do seem to be collecting centre-backs. Where is Butler supposed to fit?

Like your thinking behind it Cheshire Cat ,but to be honest,i for one don't want Harry back, not because he's shit or anything like that because he isn't,i just didn't like his attitude in manufacturing the move.He could have gone about it in so many different ways, his attitude stinks in so many ways.Get Jason Pearce in if anybody out of the two,he'd be absolutely quality in this league.

As for personal preference,i'd bust a gut to get another QUALITY striker in instead of going for another defender,as i think you can,in MOST cases, score yourself out of this league.

I really dont get it with this Butler situation the player is taylor made for this division hes proven.

Has he fallen out with Clough who knows? but get him in the team before hes does one

Would be very surprised if Hull didn't insist he went to a Championship club to be honest. Having never really played at that level you'd assume Bruce would want to see him perform at a higher level before throwing him in for them.

All Clough said is he is on the fringes of the team along with Porter.

Butler should be on the bench at least.

He had 15,000 reasons a week to join Hull. I don't blame him, but dont fall for the bullshit.

Of course, from Hulls perspective, a move to the Championship seems more beneficial now.

If this was the case, wtf did Bruce sign him for,at this stage of his career,in the first place.
