I can't argue with what you say swiss. However, the whole point of Clough's targets is to get some quality in. Yes, there are bargains out there, but you can't expect Clough to drop on a bargain gem every time he steps into the market.
Somewhere along the line, the board and Clough have to recognise that if we require some "proven" player, (and by that I don't necessarily mean a Scottish player) you have to pay the going rate. For every decent signing, there's probably been 2 more average Joes. Not bad players, just not of the desired quality to get us out of the division. We are ending up with mediocre div 3 players, which equals a mediocre div 3 team reflected by our results and if we are not careful our final league position.
We have a massive squad, brought about by numerous and many Clough signings and yet we can't assemble a promotion winning team
