Many a true word spoken in jest . May have been a open , heart to heart discussion with staff and players , especially with the comment from Holt. Clough could have told the players , its because of them he is heading for the sack if things don't improve . It does bring home , ( although us fans hit it from different directions of opinion ) , is that when gauging performances etc , and the consequences what may happen , we are not far wrong .

I don't think he will, and hearing that it does sound like the end is near but I'd still love him to do well with us!!

This season promised so much as I sat in the sun of last summer. He'd turned us round, gave us cup runs and very very nearly got us up. We also had the promise of a decent kit. The fans and bookies believed.

Then we lost the spine that did it, didn't for whatever reason buy what we should have, bought some mistakes and then Ched happened. Not only was the wind taken from our sails but the sails were taken from our ship.

Since then the negativity has infected the playing style, the players, the manager and the fans.

I still think he can do well and full respect for stabilising the place, giving us the fun and lets not forget reaching where we are compared with where Weir would have taken us.

My issue is whether it's his preferred style, as per what some Derby fans say, or whether he has cut his cloth with what he has (and yes I know he's bought some of them). If it's the former then sorry that's sackable, if its the latter then the recent purchases playing a different style could get us up.

Either way, its support time now and then let's see where we are in the Summer.

Yep I just heard that at the end of the Audioboom and it surprised me.

Desperately want him to succeed and be a long term success here
So frustrating that the approach seems to have been so negative and the players are clearly making too many errors.

The cup runs have been fantastic - best in my memory of over 40+ years watching the Blades
Why the hell can't we put some of these toss fecking teams to bed then?

No, we had a great run towards the end of last season, there was not a single fan who wanted NC out, 2015 how things have changed great league cup run fans happy albeit not the league form, now we are asking will he go, which is a fair point. We have to go with what we have got a change now IMO, would be a bad move, we have to have faith in a manager who has shown last year he can get results, but yes time could be running out to turn this around, I for one am not giving up.

I know that not every Blades fan reads or posts on this site, but we have three home games ahead, let's make it "Fortress Bramall Lane" like it used to be, noisy, hostile to the opposition, positive and encouraging to the lads.

Very few Blades fans post on this site, mainly the ones with the most extreme views one way or the other. Perhaps three or four years ago it was a bit more representative of the general Blades support, but it disappeared up its own arse long ago.

It's overwhelmingly male too, which certainly doesn't represent the current demographic.

Must be nice to be able to laugh about it, am guessing a nice payoff lay in wait so he won't lose much sleep.

Of course the way Clough reacted is open to interpretation. I took it in the spirit of irony. He'll know what some of the fans think, he won't be happy himself, so more than anyone else he'll know what needs to happen to give the team and supporters the boost we all need.

Just watched this video and clough says he doesn't expect to be talking to the reporter next year? any ideas on what he means?

If you listen to Clough he says "If....", not that he expects, two very different interpretations. He also talked about a lack of research, maybe take a note on that score.

There are two other threads discussing this video, maybe a good time to merge the three of them? That way the inevitable speculation can be kept in one place.

He actually said 'If we're here next year we'll have a laugh about it (His 50th birthday) but I think the odds on that at the moment are quite slim'

My interpretation is that he acknowledges that results haven't been good enough of late and if it continues he wouldn't expect to still be in his post in 12 months time.

To be fair to NC, I think he's got that about spot on. The remedy is in his own hands.

Yep, nothing to analyse - just a quip.

We all desperately want Clough to succeed both short and long term . The main reason is to bring success and stability to a good , well supported club , which has been in the back waters of football for too long .Forget big club , sleeping giant , thats just bollocks . We have never been a big club.

Clough has got the self belief , confidence and determination to get us into the play offs and win them . His main task is getting this across to the players , and then the results , backing of the board and fans will all fall in place.

We have all started to get nervous and jittery , for no other reason than performances and results , have just not been good enough, and thats why Cloughs management style , tactics , team selections and transfer dealings have been questioned.

His persona and body language in the interview , to me showed he was still all together , but the questions asked , were more like someone , who was being kind to him personally , who Imo knew more about the actual situation , but didn't want to be airing them publicly , and questions / answers set before the interview.

I do think the next 3 games are going to be micro managed by the board , and the reaction of the fans , may well be the barometer / bench mark of the boards decision , along with the 2015 / 16 financial balance sheet.

For any progression of this football club , it does need to get out of league 1 , this season . This ultimate aim will be carried out with or without Clough and i feel the board like the fans are split on this one.

Unless the board have a already made contingency plan , we could cock this up big style and us fans will have played a part in Cloughs down fall , but ultimately the buck stops with him.

Forget the nice to have cup runs , this season has just not been good enough , more on the style of play , than league position Imo.

Today will be a telling factor in SUFC and Cloughs own future , then Tuesday , then next Saturday.

My view , if results are not achieved he will jump before he is pushed , as his pride and reputation are more on the line now , than they were at Derby.
